H flee f is Subs Autumn uyhery zu Two weeks before school began, candidates for the l93S Trojan football squad turned out en masse for ball practice. .Xmong the many Sopho- mores, hluniors, and Seniors who reported were fifteen letter men, three of whom, Jim Monk, lfred justice, and Clyde Redding, have had two K jug Football and hardest driving in the history of the school. The Trojans continued their hue play to defeat Cincinnati lilder 3-l to O. Un September SO, the Trojans traveled to Springfield and kept their record in- tact by defeating the XYildcats 26 to 6. years of varsity play. Coaches jenkins, Ramey, and lfllscsser put the boys through strenuous ex- ercises, drills on the fundamentals of football, and scrimmages, often under a boiling sun, to whip them into shape for their opening game. and coaches also held regular skull practices in order to fix each players tasks more firmly in his mind. Co-captains Fred Justice and Clyde Redding led their teammates to a hard-earned victory over .Xkron by a score of 12 to 71 the starting team turned out to be one of the heaviest The Reserves, under Coach Charles Lorentz, have had an equally successful month. The twenty-two players who composed the reserve team gave an excellent account of themselves in their two September games. They defeated the Raceland tirst squad ll to 6, and the lilaekfork varsity 26 to 6. Coach Fred Multer and his freshman were not so fortunate, however. They played the Central Catholic Reserves and the Sciotoville Reserves, but both games ended in ties, O to 0.
