Girls' League, Directing Girls' Social Customs And Welfare tiirls' League, of which every girl is a memlmer, is the largest and most helpful organization in l'ortsmouth High School. lt serves to aid the girls in every way, when they first enter high school as freshmen. There are three aims of the Girls' League con- sidered in planning their programs for the year. These are: first, to promote a greater spirit of unity and cooperation among the girls in various activities. second, to estahlish a more Wide-spread influence toward higher standards in girlhood and womanhood: third, to provide opportunities toward development of personality through service and leadership. Last spring at a special assemhly, Willa lYinte1' was chosen president: Mildred june Coleman. vice president: .lane Cohurn, secretary: and Caroline liriel, treasurer. 'lihese girls took up their duties early in the fall, and with the new l dean, Miss blames, planned the year's program. The first week of school, they organized the llig- l.ittle Sister Movement. lfach freshman girl had a lmig sister to guide her along. and in this way, many difhculties were ironed out.
