PrincipaI's Office Assistants, Messengers And Mimeographers In the position of the secretary of the office Miss Kathryn Krall has competently and indnstrionsly fulfilled her dnties. Under her supervision are stndent assistants whom she trains to do office work in preparation for fntnre johs. Miss Krall gradnated from I'ortsmonth High School in 1929. She has heen employed as Mr. IJaIe's secretary for the past fonr years. In addition to heing a teacher of shorthand and sponsor of the ,lolly Rogers, Mr. Ilert l.each has acted as an assistant in Mr. IDale's office. In this capacity he has performed well the dnties assigned to him. His chief dnty is the care of the ahsence cards. When attendance records are sent in from the home rooms, Mr. I,each helps to prepare the names of ahsentees for the daily list. Ile also grants excnses to those lmringing written notes of explanation for ahsence. The assistants in the principal's office are re- quired to perform many dnties in helping Miss Krall and Mr. l.eaeh. Students. who are late for classes, mnst go to the office to ohtain an admittance slip from an assistant. Some of the assistants help in making ont the ahsenee sheet for the day. which is distrilmnted to the various class rooms in order that the teachers may have a record of the ahsentees. If a student is wanted at the office, the assistants snmmon him from his class. They also talte any telephone messages to students for whom they are intended. In addi- tion, they type reports or rnn stencils on the mimeograph machine: they separate grade sheets according to home rooms to which they helong. .Xfter the grades have lmeen recorded, they are divided according to the respective teacher.
