rf MEDIA LIBRARY SERVICES Reel To Real Knowledge The primary objective of educational media services is to provide for the informational needs of the faculty, staff, and student body. Its aim is to serve as the '’heart, ’ or the education- al pulse,' of the entire school. Portsmouth High School has 2 locations for media services, the library which is primarily print materials, and the media services center which is non-print. The report of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges March. 1986, gave a commendation to the ef- fective integration of print and non-print media in the educational program. The Association report stated that the library is conveniently located, new, well-designed and well-main- tained and that the collection is balanced and extensive. The report also stated that the media center was a spacious area of several inter- connected rooms, with space, equipment and furnishings for production, storage and circula- tion sufficient for supporting the needs of the high school. Together, the two areas offer a comprehensive reel to real resource program.
