Contents Faculty Seniors Underclassmen Organizations Activities Sports Advertisements ballooning is drawn into the “Fly Away” theme of the 1985 Legend by exhibit- ing the yearning in human nature to lift off to the high blue yonder. The restraints of daily life are left behind. Direction depends on the wind. Sky merges with water, reflections with reality. The pattern of nature, the dependence on the seasons and the relationships between neigh- boring communities can be seen clearly as if to suggest that the whole grand design could only have been laid out from above. The solitary effect of this experience on a basket- borne observer is to make the troubles of the world invisible. Things look right. There is a sense of proportion and man, far from feeling superior, can only be made to feel rightfully small. The restraints of the ground are no longer with you. Your direction and distance are gov- erned by the wind. Your attainable heights are dependent upon the energy you ignite in achieving that altitude. The yearbook staff wishes you future success in charting your course, achieving your dis- tance, soaring to your potential. For the pre- sent, however, let us all just “Fly Away”.
