It may seem that I’ve been around for as many years as some of the older teachers, Joe Narcizo, George Mello, Ray Sullivan; however. I've only been at PHS for 6 years. My affiliation with PHS was that I coached football for 18 years, enjoying every year. Beginning in 1963, we had some outstanding football players. We always had win- ning seasons, losing some heart-break- ers. I worked with 2 great coaches (Sulli- van and Narcizo) and we had fun. I cherish the memories over the years and especially the young men I had the pleasure of coaching. Richard Travers JUMN I MI.t4.llM k BUt» I am in the unique” position of having been a graduate of PHS (class of 72), and now being a teacher at PHS! One thing that I did not realize then, but do now, is that teachers in this school really care about you! Being a teach- er, coach, and interacting with stu- dents is something that means a lot to me. John Blaess Mr Vierra Dept Head Mr DcRobbio Mr Carroll Mr Sullivan Mr Drury

Physical Education And Industrial Arts Mr Travers Supervisor of phys ed health Ms Ford Mr Akucewich Mr Blaess Portsmouth High School is my home away from home. For the past 19 years I’ve enjoyed being part of the PHS family. I am fond of my students and of my colleagues and I love my work both in the classroom and on the athletic fields. I am proud of our school and of the high caliber of our young people. At Portsmouth, I’ve experienced one of my happiest moments — the joys of sharing in a state soccer championship — and certainly one of my most de- spairing — the agony of the deaths of Will, Chris and Tim. PHS has been a learning experience for me as well. 1 would like to think that I have played at least some small role in its history. Richard S. Thibault I have been a teacher in Portsmouth for twenty-three years. For the most part I have enjoyed my years here. I like teaching; I love to impart knowl- edge and to challenge the intellectual capabilities of young people. The ma- jority were equal to the task; they went on to success. My only regret is that too many were content with medi- ocrity and wasted their talents here at P.H.S. Mr Briand Mr O’Neill Victor J. St. Laurent

DMS And Resource Teachers u J Porter Mr Mello Dept Head Mrs Cherry Mrs Kehoe Mrs. Brown Mrs Cassese Mrs Hansen Mr Affonso Mrs DeCosta Mrs Ponte This year also marks 20 years of service for me as a teacher at Portsmouth High School Over the years. I have found that the faculty and staff are dedicated and committed to the most mean- ingful education and support services possible for the students whom we serve. They have demonstrated their commitment as people who take their jobs seriously, but not themselves. They are fine human beings dedicated to the proper development of the whole person - the student, the citizen, the worker, and the consu mer - who will face a variety of human exper- iences and challenges The present administration has done an excel- lent job of setting a positive tone for a school that was. at one time, lacking goals, direction and leadership to a school that “says what it means and means what it says. ' The overwhelming majority of the students that we serve and have served make our efforts very rewarding in terms of professional fulfillment, job satisfaction, and a sense of personal accom plishment Joseph L.
