Science Mr Kitchen Dept Head Mrs Borkowski Mr Sabourin Mr GaJhpeau We opened the school in 1963 which just happens to be the year that I start- ed teaching. I can recall having stu- dents in my class who were only four years younger than I was at the time. Our first assembly was a memorial to JFK at which time one of the older teachers, who thought I was one of the students, insisted that I, “sit with the rest of your class.” That doesn't hap- pen to me any more. I've seen soccer develop a strong winning tradition with a lot of pride, the togetherness of the Little Compton students, the con- fusion of the late sixties and early sev- enties, and our present determination to keep pace with a strongly competi- tive society. Through all of the trage- dies, routines, and triumphs, I have seen children grow into young adults. Ray Sabourin Mr Ciccone Mrs Helfner

Physical Education And Industrial Arts Mr Travers Supervisor of phys ed health Ms Ford Mr Akucewich Mr Blaess Portsmouth High School is my home away from home. For the past 19 years I’ve enjoyed being part of the PHS family. I am fond of my students and of my colleagues and I love my work both in the classroom and on the athletic fields. I am proud of our school and of the high caliber of our young people. At Portsmouth, I’ve experienced one of my happiest moments — the joys of sharing in a state soccer championship — and certainly one of my most de- spairing — the agony of the deaths of Will, Chris and Tim. PHS has been a learning experience for me as well. 1 would like to think that I have played at least some small role in its history. Richard S. Thibault I have been a teacher in Portsmouth for twenty-three years. For the most part I have enjoyed my years here. I like teaching; I love to impart knowl- edge and to challenge the intellectual capabilities of young people. The ma- jority were equal to the task; they went on to success. My only regret is that too many were content with medi- ocrity and wasted their talents here at P.H.S. Mr Briand Mr O’Neill Victor J. St. Laurent
