OUR DEAR MR. MANSI THE 1983 LEGEND IS DEDICATED TO YOU In Steptember 1979, we, the class of 1983, entered Portsmouth High School. When we first arrived, fears, expectations and excitement were feelings which colored our new outlooks. Upon our arrival, Mr. Mansi became a constant force in our lives. For the next three years, he guided us with his wisdom, positive attitudes toward others and the desire to see our class mature. Together, yet separately, we and Mr. Mansi grew in our understanding of each other and formed an un- breakable bond between us. Growth is the key word which described Mr. Mansi. Together, with his interest in the individual growth of our personalities and the growth of our character, he guided us through good times and bad times. Mr. Mansi’s friendship with us grew as did our respect and admiration for him and for the principles he represented. 0 Though there were conflicts, as there always are in close relation- ships, his patience, sensitivity, and generosity prevailed and together we resolved all obstacles. In addition to personal growth, the nurturing of plants and flowers was a great avocation of Mr. Mansi’s. He worked with nature and had a love for all things living. He strived for healthier and heartier plants just as he enjoyed watching his students blossom. Mr. Mansi knew that success could not be achieved without personal effort and that the benefits of a harvest cannot be reaped without labor. The words of the English novelist, George Eliot, seem particularly apt when we think of Mr. Mansi: “It never will rain roses: when we want To have more roses we must plant more trees.’’ The Spanish Gy pay.
