Mr. Paul Nicoletti Mrs. Janice Walcott English Department The purpose of our English Department is two fold: to enable the student to express himself understandably and creatively, and to bring the student into meaningful contact with all forms of literature. These aims are realized through continual study of grammar and structure, reading and discussion of essays, speeches, short stories, and novels by authors from a wide variety of countries and times, analysis of modern and traditional poetry, and a study of drama, which is supplemented by the Project Discovery Program. Through this varied and intensive program of study, the student emerges with a deep appreciation of literature and the ability to communicate expressively.
