In this year's Principal's message, I am going to discard the usual format which is to reflect on the class motto and instead, insert a selection that really touched me when Iread it. CHIDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE , . . If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn. If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight. If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy. If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty. If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient. If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence. If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate. If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice. If a child lives with security, he leams to have faith. If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself. If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world. from: The Sacramento Teacher, June, 1971. Asst. We have tried to present what we feel has been the emotions of the school and the objectivity of its changing times. We have discovered that despite all of our attempts this presentation is in a sense similar to all of its forebearers - not so different after all. Why have creative thoughts not always been achieved? Could these have been stif- fled by a run-away economic situation - a large staff worn away by a shortened day - after school work and conflicting activi- ties Ceducational 8: sociall? Could it be that our creative talents have been cov- ered by zealous classmates, motherly ad- visors Cwho we leave behind to answer for usl and tired workers v- bless them all. So - here it is our . . . creation, the 1972 Clipper Yearbook. It has not been an easy task but like all tasks its' joys far outweigh its anguish and we welcomed it. Remember - But never is there time to treat a fellow human being wrongf' So read this with kindness.
