Portland State's cafeteria is a haven for displaced persons, misplaced articles, and un- placed activities. During Orien- tation Week the Associated Women Students coordinated get-acquainted Mixnic activi- ties. Included was a fashion show featuring a typical coed's wardrobe, The transition from fashion salon to auction block was simple routine forthe cafe- teria, a veteran of the quick change. Selling of discards ac- cumulated in College Center proved profitable, and the John Francis Cramer scholarship fund was enriched by 35519. The art of apple polishing, a tradition at Portland State, was threatened by budget uncer- tainties in early fall term. How- ever differences were recon- ciled and the annual Apple Polishing Party was sponsored by AWS. 5 XS-

Portland State's Student Senate changed its role this year under the new structure of educational activities. The Senate was deprived of its major function, the allocation of student activ- ity fees, and was left with little respon- siloitity. Early concerns of the primarily neophyte Senate were directed at find- ing something to do. A proposal to rewrite the Constitution was the first major effort, a project still incomplete at the beginning of Spring Term.
