He enioys work- ing with his students and is leaving with hopes and ambi- tions. He is a practicing public accountant, and will further his work in that field. Mr. Glen jordan Mr. Glen Jordan, who has been substituting at P.H.S. since the middle of last year, is leaving. Along with being an excellent teacher, he is the minister of the First Advent Church on Park Avenue. He enjoys teaching, but feels that the ministry is his first calling. Mr. Jordan's friendly personality and infectious smile always made the days delightful. With his outgoing per- 5on0llfY, he was pegged not only as a good teacher, but a friend to many of us.

In Mr. Steven W Terracin Mr. Steven W. Terracin will long be remembered as a quiet, sincere, warm person. One of our two busy assist- ant principals of the past year, we were sorry to see him go. His duties included scheduling, making reports, pro- gram evaluation, and student counseling, but his door was always open to his students. Mr. Terracin is now attending an Administrative Seminar in Washington, D.C. The students of Portland High School wish him the very best of luck. Mr. David R. Wallace Mr. David R. Wallace came to Portland High School in February of 1965, as a member of the history depart- ment. His qualifications and outstanding performance dur- ing his first few years led him to the chairmanship of his department in September of 1970. As head of the history department, Mr. Wallace not only ran an excellent history program, but his dedication to the school was reflected in his involvement with the activities and the students. ln June of 1973, Mr. Wallace accepted the position of assistant principal at Lincoln Junior High School. The fac- ulty and students greatly miss this man.

The staff of 1974, with love and appreciation, fondly dedicates this edition of the TOTEM to HOME and all that the word connotes. No words of ours can express the thoughts of home as beautifully as our famous poet, Henry W. Longfellow. We quote from the first stanza of Mr. Longfellow's poem MY LOST YOUTH. Often I think of the beautiful town That is seated by the sea, Often in thought go up and down The pleasant streets of that dear old town, And my youth comes back to me. And a verse of a Lapland song, ls haunting my memory still: A boy's will is the wind's will, And the thoughts of youth are long, long thoughts. , , ss. V K -s
