Crescendos Ol' Excitement . . . The cry of Give me a P! echoed across the field. This year, seventeen enthusiastic girls dressed in blue and white uniforms had roles as cheerleaders. Under the direction of Mrs. Jan Brig- ham, the girls spiritedly represented Portland High School at football games, cross-country meets, basketball games, track meets, and other athletic contests. The girls rounded out the year by sponsoring food sales, helping sell sports cushions, and partici- pating in sports rallies. One will always remember crescendos of excitement encouraged by the cheerleaders of P.H.S. The cheerleaders crowned for the Turkey Day game Joanne Yarnold and Mark Hutch- ins as Miss and Mr. Portland. For P.H.Q.
