CLASS PROPHECY This is your emcee Sigh Zlotnick welcoming you to the 1976 Auto Show I am pleased to see so many members of the Class of 1956 present today The prrncrpal of Portland High School john Benashski and two members of his faculty Andrea osephson and Ann Pulsifer are talkrng to the only Portland members of the U S Olympic team Alan Towns Art Herrick and Terry Quigley Looking at the delivery trucks are Bully Harris and Manny Sbona owners of the First National Stores which supply food for jane and Nancy Shoreys chain of hot dog stands With Bill and Manny are their oflice managers Georgiann Eldridge and Marie Chiabrero and their chief accountant Esther McQueeney Paul Ghent the oil tycoon from Texas and his four private secretaries jackie Emond Evelyn Maher Eleanor Goff and udy Turner have just arrived They are greeted by Harold Farrell Neil Mullin and Larry Rosa owners of a chain of service stations and Tom Hadden pencil manufacturer There are several members of the armed forces present at the Auto Show today Among them are Captain Donald Gouin and Ensign David Denette both of the Navy and Beverly Dombroski Eleanor Mays and Phyllis Sadlowski Waves They seem to be enjoying a reunion with Betty Hale and Barbara Bazidlo dress designers and Gloria Lapadula and Barbara Munn owners of a Fifth Avenue dress shop Leo Moqum noted veterinarian seems to be havmg an rnteresting conversation with Cliff Robinson and John Anderson co owners of the worlds largest farm and Senators Harvey Auster and jack Hodge scheduled to make an appearance here sometime today Here is Daud Umba designer and manufacturer of mens hats Would you care to say a few words Dave? I am pleased to see so many people here today If you are interested in any hat styles just look at john Florkoski or Bill Carlucci They are wearing my latest creations Many members of the Class of 1956 are helping to make this show a success The famous orchestras of Frank Kazeroid and Ed Drotar are providing the music The vocalists with these orchestras are Elaine Ostergren and Ev Brosseau This afternoon Nella D1Mauro a member of the famed Rockettes will make an appearance Tomorrow visitors to the show will be privileged to hear Burton Bluemer and joan Anderson organists and Arlene Woodward pianist joe Lastrina owner and operator of the famous Lasttxna Florist Shop furnished the corsages which the ladies received when they arrived at the show The well known artists Ray Natale Warren Russell and Anne Fazzmo planned the decoratxons for the show Among the owners of the concerns designing and producmg the cars being shown here today are Robert Unikewicz john Klausenberg and Phil johnson lf any of you are injured in thrs large crowd be sure to go to the First Aid Station where you wrll be cared for by Doctors Edward Harper and Perry Hale assisted by Pat Zamprm and Gail Miles nurses and Greta Boutwell X ray technician I hope you all enjoy the first day of the Auto Show of 1976 and that you will be wrth us tomorrow for the final day of the exhibit 26 3 7 ' ' 3 .Y U S J , . . 9 7 7 ' 3 1 ' . 3 . . , . . , 1 , , , , , , J , . ARLENE WOODWARD Sweet and gentle a smile for everyone enviable curls nimble with the thimble typing whiz willing worker good natured sparkling eyes truer friend is hard to find I C plans nursing Variety is the spice of life Xl! Fvclyn Maher William Harris and Harvey Auster Evelyn Maher won this contest und went on to mn the county contest and later competed in the state contest Pat Limpini joe Murphy jackie Emond and Harvey Auster went to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Conference in New York for three days as representatives of the Prattler As a fund raising venture our class sold greeting cards and writing paper The last social event of the school year was the unior Senior Prom which had as its theme A japanese Tea Garden SENIOR YEAR Leading us through our last and most important year were Paul Ghent president' Evelyn Maher vice-president' Marie Chiabrero secretary' and ohn Anderson treasurer. We sponsored a number of successful fund-raising projects. The annual Magazine drixe led by Pat Zampini and ack Hodge netted us approximately 81600. Pats team raised the most money, and acks team entertained them at a picnic at Hurd Park. The top salesmen in the drive were Frank Kazeroid Terry uigley David Umba and john Klauzenberg. Christmas seemed a bit gayer this year because gifts were wrapped in the attractive Christmas paper which we sold. Selling candy to students was another business venture of ours. After a Halloween party at Gail Miles' house we got up at 4:00 a.m. to wash windows a traditional senior good-will project. In February we started rehearsals for our class play 'The Hidden Enemy presented in April. The proceeds from all of these projects helped to finance our long anticipated Washington trip. The hnal activities of the class will include our class banquet. at which time our vearbooks will be distributed, and the junior-Senior Prom. On une 14, we shall become alumni of Portland High School. Our four years at Portland High School are years we shall always remember.
