Under your guidance We have become more aware of what it means to be His heirs and citizens of His universe. Surely, the Wise shall inherit the earth. You, Mr. Stephens have increased our knowledge both spiritually and academically. We the graduating class of 1963, with love and appreciation, dedicate this yearbook to you. 5 0 I P 15521 nf..---3-' 1. - ,,,...-.., --- -sw ' 53 Z. - , , lo X .,,.,,,,,,. 5 Q 'I T 4? 5 .. This book is a chronology of the past academic year with Him. As joint-heirs with His Son, we can through these pages look back, remember and thank God for the many blessings of our inheritance. Through pic- tures and phrases we see how our lives have been enriched through a greater knowledge of Him in whom we have a good ly heritage. Sharon Catts 1- . 6 Ei W MIN F 'gf 1'-q -,N s W 3 'AV' U 5 fb 1, Qi an DMI I TRATI 25 53 Tl l SAX Superintendent Mr. Sanders Man is becoming increasingly concerned about the acquisition of knowledge. However, one can acquire a knowledge of facts Without gaining Wisdom. True Wisdom can only be obtained through a knowledge of Christ, for in Him are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. The Psalmist declared that the fear freverential awe, of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We have dedicated ourselves to the leading of students into a relationship with the Source of wisdom. All who lack wisdom may ask of God and He will give it to them. Our prayer is expressed in the words of the Psalmist. Teach us to number our days, that We may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Congratulations! The diploma which you have earned indicates a job well done. Each of you has obeyed the command to Nstudy to show thyself approved unto God,W and a portion of your reward is labeled NDiplomaU. This portion, however, is insignificant when compared to the total benefits. Yours has been a nChristian educationn. You have seen God revealed in every subject which you have studied: History, English, Math, Science, Music.....all have been revelatory of Him. During your years at P.C.H. you have found that the verse is true which says, Wfor of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things:n.....even the subjects in the curriculum. This verse must now be carried over into the new life which will be yours. It will apply to your college work and to the vocation that you choose. It will apply to your home as you eventually meet the one who will become your life-long partner. It will apply to every phase, every condition, every experience of life as you run the gamut of opportunities over the years to come. Never underestimate the power of Romans ll:36 as you put it to life's test. As you leave the halls of P.C.H., I pray that those things which you have learned will undergird you for the years ahead. Further, I pray that you will constantly seek His will and guidance as you walk carefully down the path made clear by the light of His Holy Spirit. We have shared blessings and heartaches, and I am personally thank- ful for those things He has taught me this year. My own life has been enriched through the privilege of knowing and working with the Class of 63 . May God bless you abundantly. In Hisy onderfui Service..... In the beginning of this year, God gave us a key by which we could unlock a storehouse of blessings for this school. That key was Prayer . Only with this key have we been able to come through this year. Yet as this year draws to a close we must continue to seek a more abundant life in Christ in years to come, Whether they be spent at Portland Christian or in some other phase of work for Him. The anxious hours, the dead- lines we rushed to meet, the cold in the annual room, and the endless numbers of pictures to take. Coaching the Royals this year has been an extremely rewarding experience. The boys have taught me much as I have watched them work hard and put forth that extra effort which is so necessary to a successful team. We won a few games and lost a few others, but the important thing to me was the spirit in which the boys approached each contest. As we prayed together in pre-game meetings with the rally squad, the request was always the same: Lord, we don't ask you for a victory in points, but help us to leave a lasting testimony for Christ. May He be seen in our sportsmanship and hard p1ay . It was in this spirit that we played throughfout the season. As a result, the victories in every way were many and for these We give Him thanks. Mr. Barber, coach Left to right: James Newcomer, Paul Sanders, Doug Harness, Gaylen Larson, Mick Crum, Stephen Monroe, Benjy Brown, Jim Bradely, Neil Sanders, Ray Birch. Looking back on this year of basketball, I find many reasons to be happy. We have turned in a 5 pretty good season record. This is especially true when the fact that we did not bring any varsity players down to play and six freshman made the squad. Al- so to be considered was the other person in his fresh- man year of basketball-the coach. We are thankful for the victories on the floor, but even more for those won off the floor in the hearts and attitude of the players. It was our desire this year to leave a positive testimony for our Lord. To the extent we have done this, we were truly suc- cessful.
