,WL li qw QQMA' Ps w 1 ' '15 ,, f , We as , i g MEDIEVAL AND MODERN 1954-55-With mixed Freshman emotions twenty-six of us entered PCH to begin our four-year career of high school life. We started ol? with a bang by taking a chilling trip to Mt. Hood in cars, one a convertible with the top down, naturally! Four of our class were privileged to sing in the school choir, and we began the tradition of having the Frosh decorate the chapel for Christmas. Joy Varney and Gwen Becktell were the two in the snapshot that won first place that year. Then there was the formal banquet, too. Beth Sternberg, our Valentine princess, delighted us all by taking the top honor of the year for our class, being voted queen of the Sweetheart Serenade. 1955-56-Now with thirty members, we gladly took over the task of Initiation, and earned most of our class money by sales - hamburgers, donuts, and chili. The year got under way for us by a bowling party and, later on, a day at the beach. Once again our princess, this time Carol Rogers, was chosen queen of the Sweetheart Serenade. She was also in the winning snapshot. COur girls are photogeniclj Lanita Smith and Sharon Mason ran the candy store, and four of us worked in the office that year. Marshall Benson and jerry Wade were on the starting fave of the basketball team. 1956-57-This year found us, twenty-nine strong, planning the formal junior-Senior Banquet taking place at the Ione Plaza, and helping the Seniors with the Spa-get-together. It was our turn to put out the Copywriter , and Eve of our members, including john Rogers, served on the Rally Squad. We had quite a few parties, including a Halloween party at Judy Corkum's, a swim- ming party and a farewell party for three departing classmates. Once more Lanita and Sharon ran the candy store, and our industrious class purchased an ice cream machine to bring in more dollars. Ruth Myrick, one of us, won the city's annual junior Symphony contest, 1957-58-Seniors at last, the twenty-four of us chose Breitenbush Hot Springs for our memorable Senior Sneak. We all loved our adviser for two years, Mr. Wade, who was always ready for another party, and had one at his house for us. We won the ad contest and yes! - it happened again. Angeln Brown of our class became queen of the Sweetheart Serenade, along with our first king, Vern Hoffman. Mr. Martin sa.id he would always remember us for our puzzling answers in Amer- ican Problems class. Ruth Myrick,,now annual editor, has been choir pianist for three years, and Joy Varney a cheerleader for four. Marshall was on Portland's high school Prep Panel, and Angeln wrote several articles on the school for the Oregon Journal. It was hard to gradu- ate, but we left behind us four wonderful years of memories, growing, learning and laughing together. CASCADE COLLEGE A Ready Mind - A Radiant Spirit 705 N.
