Shown here is a float sponsored by the Student Council, which won second prize in the Iunior division. This is an excellent example of high school-community cooper- ation, so vital for the suc- cess and harmony of our community. A better example of high school-community re- lations would be our Pan- ther Band. Their beautiful orange and green uni- forms were paid for by the merchants of Porterville. Our community is iusti- fied in its pride for our band because of its recog- nized superior marching precision and musical in- terpretation and ability. This is a prime example of Portervil1e's expression of pride toward its civic achievements. '.'..::.:f:1t':7 U it L..--s-.. 1,-n SV

l fs. 1 i' A . - Among the orange groves and cotton fields, two other great industries of the Porterville area may be sited-dairying and beef raising! Interest in these industries has increased to such a degree that Porterville now annually sponsors the Porterville Ir. Livestock Fair, where many livestock :projects are featured. The El Grcmito staff salutes you! ', . e- -rf - fill -..,,f H.-W The Orange fruit and Green foliage of these or- ange trees so inspired the citizens of our fair city that when our high school was finished, the colors chosen were those from the or- ange tree. Porterville is the center of the world's orange in- dustry, and because of this an example of our theme is shown- our founders met the chal- lenge of their age and passed their fruits of la- bor on to us.
