D0 YOU REMEMBER .... Remember the first day we entered the old building and wandered bewilderly from room to room .... The freshmen picnic at Bartlett Park .... The sopho- more party in the gymg then the big picnic at California Hot Springs where we bathed and skated until worn to a frazzle ,... Our junior year oHered us a chance to strut before the footlights in the form of the junior play. An' remember how we had to raise money to have the junior-senior upromv just 'cause we didnit make a cent on our play! The prom was certainly nice though, dancing mid the cool shadows of the gym. The soft colors so appropriate to the theme, Moonlight and Shadowsn, played by Allen's orchestra .... Pirates, gypsies, island girls, old fashioned ladies, men in night clothes, a criminal, the hill-billy orchestra-flaming colors, rufifiing skirts and effervescent joy marked our junior rube day. Some of us had a busy day with our cameras, taking interesting pictures of friends who were so gallantly dressed, while others of us just had a swell time . . . Our Senior Year began slowly, but increased its tempo as the year rolled on. We sort of made up for our financial Hop in the junior play by registering one of the largest attendances ever to witness a senior play at Porterville high . . . My, our athletic teams really did well too. We certainly had a football team. Wow-only one touchdown scored against us in league competition, but yet, it cost the cham- pionship title! . . . Ten straight victories and the varsity county championship was ours in basketball. Remember the fun we had riding the bus to these games an' then the climax of getting a special train to Bakersfield? What a train ride! The poor conductors were run ragged by the kids who insisted on keeping the lights out. It rained outside, but inside we danced, roamed through the cars, and had a grand time. We arrived back at the Porterville depot with a peppering rain to greet us . . March 18th will long be remembered by most of us seniors. That was the day we decided to take a preliminary vacation and put a iigure 'QBN on top of old Magnesite Hill. There was the wienie feed at Bartlettg some went to visit Lindsay and Strath- more high schoolsg and then the big reunion in the afternoon when we put the figure back on the hill. fsome juniors disturbed the first onel . . But now, it's all over- high school life is just a memoryg but within us, that memory will always live. -9..
