TRACK Sim Inness Coach Track: Trainer, Bob Cooper, Davis Harp, Bob Donaldson, Bruce Fife, Jerry Carter, Ken Shannon, Coach Sim Inness. Our 1956 Pirate Track Squad was a small but deter- mined group of men who, because of a lack m reserve strength,did not always score high in their meets but the too few men who did participate for P.C. always showed will. A new coach at Porterville College this year was a man who wrote a page or two of his own in the track and field an- nals of the world, Coach Sim Iness formerly of U.S.C. The Pirate baseball squad was small but the individual mem- bers made up m spirit what they lacked m numbers. There were very few returning players from last year ' s squad, so Coach Hall was faced with the oroblem of rehuildina the team. s faced with the problem of rebuilding the team. As well as playing the regular league games, the Pirates played in the Bokersfield Invitational Tournament and with several Service teams. Since most of the squad were freshmen, this ex- perience should help next year ' s team. Left handed Jim Idell wound up his career at Porterville Col- lege this year.
