Activities were numerous including a field trip to the Por- terville State Hospital where the group observed .01 classes and speech therapy classes. Several guest speakers presented views on various fields of education, including special edu- cation of exceptional children as well as general elementary and secondary education. The club also sponsored a dance to raise money for a scholarship to be offered to a freshman member who plans to continue studies at Porterville College. 40

This year the men held a Valentine s Dance in the girls gymnasium at the high school. Decorations were provided and ex- ecuted by LeRoy Meek, a freshman. Some of the objectives of the AMS are the bet- tering of student relationships, furthering interests of the men on the campus and planning and as- sisting with the various activities of the College. The International Club has been reorganized under the new name of the International Relations Club. Numerous activities included a smorgasbord, a snow party and a dance. Worthwhile pro|ects included the presentation of two scholarships to worthy freshmen who plan to continue their education at Porterville College. Also, a trophy was presented to an outstanding sophomore athlete for exemplifying good sportmanship both on and off the field. The club chose as honorary members Arlindo Avila of the Azores and Edvin Nilssen of Norway.
