William Blake The Echoing Green For many, the main attraction of the year was the spring Field Day, on which students in grades 4-6 compete in a variety of track and field events. The Field Day is run like a regular track meet and ribbons are given to the winners. Students work hard to break the records of past years. Grades 1-3 have a similar day, called Playday, in which students test their running skills and par- ticipate in such games as tug olwar, sack races, and bean bag races,

Ivan Petrovich Pavlov Bequest to the Academic Youth of Soviet Russia Science Clubs are open to students in grades five and six on a term membership in order to give everyone an opportunity to belong. Students may choose to experiment in such fields as chromatography, marine biology, skeletal preparation, rocket building, crystal growing, and pinhole cameras. Afternoon and weekend field trips often supplement the investigations. Mrs. Harrison is advisor to the Science Clubs.

The students look forward to carrying banners or crosses and bringing flowers for the altar. Each year guests are invited to participate in assemblies. The highlight this year was David Holt who specializes in Appalachian mountain folk music. The students were taught the basic skills of Ham-Bone as well as a few old folk songs. Mr. Holt demonstrated playing the banjo, fiddle, spoons, and paper bag. It all added up to great fun.
