Say it with music. Irving Berlin I,-f uf This year the Primary Christmas program was more beautiful than ever. Directed by Jessie R. Whitaker, the first through third graders performed a cantata by Joe E. Parks called A Night to Remember, as well as secular Christmas music. Gay C. Brabham accompanied on the piano and many students added to the accompaniment by playing such instruments as the autoharp, bells, drums, rhythm intruments and violins. Each week students look forward to music class fthe primary grades taught by Mrs. Whitaker and the elementary grades taught by Mrs. Brabhaml. They learn to play such intruments as the autoharp, guitar, bells, rhythm instruments, drums and recorders. They also learn the basics of music apprecia- tion and theory.

I know only two tunesg one of them is Yankee Doodle and the other zsn 't The Lower School Boys and Girls Choirs, under the direction of Mrs. Gay Brabham, as well as the fourth and fifth grade boys choirs, under the direction of Mr. Ben Hutto, put in much hard work each week to prepare for the several very enjoyable concerts performed this year. The Founder's Day concert was the first. The highlight was the performance of musical selections from the broadway musical, Annie. As always, the Lower School Choirs' Christmas Program was enjoyed by all. The choirs sang on various occasions for Lower School chapel and worked diligently throughout the rest of the year to prepare for the spring concert. if 'fa U.S. Grant

The Devil whispered behind the leaves, lt's pretty, but is it Art? The Art Council, in its first year, was designed as a service organization to help Porter-Gaud and the community. The coun- cil was selected by Mrs. Gibson and Miss Wannamaker from the fifth and sixth grade on the basis of leadership, responsibility, and cooperation. They started out the year by participating in ROAR to help the county library, ln December they helped run the school Arts and Crafts Bazaar. In January, the council raised money to send to the Bera Museum in Milan, Italy for the restoration of Leonardo DaVinci's Last Supper.
