December End Of Year Brings The month of December was filled with a lot of exciting activities. Trisha Phillips was crowned Queen of the Christmas Dance (below) and we had a surprise visit from Elvis Presley’s step-brother (below center). He gave a speech on his past experience with drugs and alcohol. The Annual R.O.T.C. Inspection gave the cadets a top rating (bottom right). Seventeen young ladies participated in the Gulf County Jr. Miss Pageant (op- posite page — top) Susan Chambers. Crystal Dean. Sharner Bostick. Angel Rogers. Melissa Watson, Shannon Frickey, Marcella Parker, and Lisa Mahlkov. MIDDLE: Sonya Quinn, Tammy Kelly, Sherry Creel, Lynne Wilder, Doris Sander, Priscilla Arm- strong, Ann LaLuzerne, and Tracy Fields BOTTOM: Dawn Holloman won the scholastic award, Lisa Mahlkov was first runner up, Mellissa Watson Jr. Miss 1987, Sonya Quinn was second runner up, and Sherry Creel won Poise and Appearance. 22

January New Year Brings January started off with a bang! Stu- dents were bursting with excitement to see all of their friends again and start the new semester. As the year was starting off it also brought to a close the girls and boys bas- ketball and the wrestling season. As the year began it also was the start of baseball, softball, track, and golf season. During this month we had a lot of special events to occur. A special assembly was held to recognize all “A honor students. Not only the “A” honor roll students were noticed but also the 87-88 football team. The players were given a banquet to recognize the most outstanding play- ers. Other events that occurred during this month was the wedding in facts class and “A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. A drama production from F.S.U. RIGHT: Outstanding football players which re- ceived awards at Banquet. BELOW: Ann prepar- ing for a home run. MIDDLE RIGHT: Students participating in college day.
