The big announcement. . . Fans approve Sweetheart selection The junior candidate, Susan Day was named 1982 Homecom- ing Sweetheart on Friday, Oc- tober 22, during halftime of the game against archrival Nederland Bulldogs, a game which ended with .the Indians winning 49-0. The crowning of the sweetheart climaxed the activities of Homecoming week. This year's sweetheart was selected by the outcome of Varie- ty Show only. This was unlike the preceding years when Variety Show, ticket sales, and candy CAD sales were used to determine the sweetheart. Class nominees are chosen by varsity football players and then, in an election by class members, one candidate was selected to represent each class. Nominees for the senior class were Ronda Goodwin, Dana Shook, and Tracy Domec, with Ronda Goodwin representing the Senior Classy Susan Day, Kelly Parks, Leigh Smithy, Nancy Geoffroy, and Ka- ty Reeder were elected with Susan Day representing the Junior Class. Sophomore candidates were Lori Guilbeaux, Jan May, and Kim Hanks with Lori Guilbeaux representing the Sophomore Class. A new attraction to this year,s Homecoming Court was two girls representing the Freshman Class. They were Frannie Anselmo representing Groves and Julie Hodges representing Port Neches.
