In the Sea of Education we struggled hard until we won the battle and sailed victoriously into the Bay of Wisdom. Then came our first stop. We landed on the Island of Knowledge, finding there a bottomless lake, the Lake of Ability. From the Island of Knowledge we set our course straight for the Land of Sportsmanship. Here we learned to win or lose with the good grace of good sports. Then we set sail for Trophy Island where many treasures awaited us-not only trophies won by an unde- .viniypg - :f'b:7f', '51, Qmlmfz feated basketball team but other trophies also. The happ mem- .llffgg , If' 1 cries of sailing together in rough and fair weather, the knowledge that we shall take with us and the man other intangibles which .IIIIgIfI!.I It Wg -: , cannot be measured with a ruler are ours forever. To us this book I xii' ' Q' is a testimonial of these-our achievements. at f ' ' x 1 m9'a '04LQ2N'7d'NVN'4N7f77O-ll!4.,:f. Among things we had to contend with were the lack of equipment for type-setting on the upper deck. For this reason we were forced to work down in the brig to many long hours. Also, we were forced to pose for our pictures in rooms on the upper deck rather than in our spacious hold because of the remodeling being done. Cheerleaders Pat Keohane, Darlene Rocker, Mary Cox, Pat Moore, Jenny McIntyre, Sandra Chase The Varsity Cheerleaders, consisting of five captains and three mates, led the crowd in arousing the fighting spirit of the boys and cheering them on to victory. This was the fourth year of cheering for captains Beverly Mullaney, Charlotte Barber and Gerry Trombley, third year for Barbara Bartlett and the second for Bertha Stewart also a captain. These captains leave mates, Hazel Gardner, Patty Beck and Jane Mangan, to carry on next year. The J. V. Squad also had a successful cheering squad this year. They consisted of an entire nboatswainn squad. Many wishes are extended to these girls in cheering the boys on to winning the future battles. May their efforts in the future be as rewarding as they have 25 this year. -23 -,Z in i , .gy ,. ,,4', - , J QU. ,Q ' , :Mft 1 at A 7 'IE s.Q .' ' ' ' 14 Qi: Q6 , - M.
