Port Leyden won the Lewneida League Soccer Championship for the second consecutive year. Their record was 7 wins and l defeat. After being defeated at the hands of Boonville in the first game, they went on to win the next seven. The starting members ot the team were Frank Bouchard, goalyg Jerry Hoard, fullback, Bob Rocker and Mickey Smith halfbacksg and Bill Fraser, Larry Dexter and Raymond Croniser on the front line. W1 Ski Team Left to right: Peter Parrish, William Smith, Mary Cox, Redmond Wilcox, Katherine Cox, Philip Boshart, John Reilly, Mr. Cox, Coach. Absent: Raymond Borden, Richard Borden, Jean Daly, and Sally Cox. The Port Leyden skiers started off the 1950-51 season by placing second at the Paul Smiths College Interscholastic Meet. Redmond Wilcox and Peter Parrish were awarded medals for placing second and third in the slalom. For the first time Port Leyden took some first place medals at the Lake Placid High School Winter Carnival. Redmond Wilcox won the slalom and Katherine Cox won the junior girls' giant slalom. Peter Parrish made the best showing in cross country by placing fifth. Mary Cox placed second in the girls' slalom and third in the girls' downhill. The Port Leyden boys and girls retired their second Snow Ridge Interscholastic trophy by winning the Lewneida League meet. In the downhill Wilcox, Parrish and Smith placed first, second and third. Wilcox also won the slalom. Mary Cox and Katherine Cox won the two girls' events in the senior and Junior divisions. In the Old Forge Invitational Meet Redmond Wilcox placed second in the downhill and third in the slalom. Peter Parrish placed sixth, seventh, eighth in cross country, downhill and slalom, respectively. Raymond Borden placed ninth in the downhill,John Reilly placed tenth in the slalom and William Smith eleventh in the slalom. In the Section Three Meet Redmond Wilcox won the downhill and placed second in the slalom. William Smith placed fourth in the downhill. Raymond Borden placed sixth in both events. John Reilly placed tenth in the slalom and eleventh in the downhill. Philip Boshart placed thirteenth in the downhill. Mary Cox placed first in both downhill and S18lO11'l. Mary Cox and Katherine Cox placed first and second, at the U.S. Eastern Junior Ski Championship at Rutland, Vermont. 32
