After a late start in the fall, due to the influenza epi- demic, the ,Student Council sponsored a dance in honor of the football players. At the beginning of the basketball season, the council put out schedule cards for the benefit of the fans. Around Christmas time, a canned foods drive for the Salvation Army was the order of business. Over eleven hundred cans of food were collected. Throughout the basketball season, at home games, the Student Council supplied refreshments for the visiting teams and cheerleaders. In the spring, the council plans to hold another dance. Also on the agenda are plans for obtaining a clock for the football field, and - the maior proiect this year - a new canopy to put in the gym for formal dances. ln connection with our traditional Thanksgiving Day game with Middletown High, the council sponsored Port's Thanksgiving Day Queen Contest. ln all the Student Council's official acts lies the very purpose of the organization itself. It teaches the ideals, the labors, and the compromises involved in self-government- the basic premise of our way of life. lst Row, left to right: Helen Wheat, Ruth Mueller, Joyce Hitt, lois Gallagher, Thomas Pentland. 2nd Row: Suzanne Schneider, lynn Anderson, Frank Seddio, .loAnn Cordisco, Georgianna Latini. 3rd Row: Brenda Sutton, Katherine Solomon, Sandra leicht, Joyce DeGroat. left-right: F. Playing tremendously for a f early season experience and overall manpower 'ith our team, and K.H.S. triumphed 38-6. Senior J scored the lone T.D. in this one. On Oc luck struck again and we had two heartbreakers. ln the first, East Stroudsburgh took our measure in a fill in game i3-0. The following week Vincentian Academy got its kicks in also, winning I2-7. Once again Bruce Parsons, reliable full- back, crashed over for one touchdown. Then, on October 28, came the big one. Playing before a crowd of three thousand, the raiders devastated the mid- dies at Wilson Field. Rich Theodore scored two touchdowns, Rog Gamo scored one, and John Romeo one-the final score: Port Jervis 27, Middletown 0. An interesting bit of statistics is that Les Smith booted six extra points, while Bruce Parsons and Dick Theodore led the redmen in season scoring with three touchdowns each.
