FLETCHER Superintendent of Schools THE THEME You travis chosen for the V752 class yearbook, Thr lFutio't ', seems to me to he a very fitting one for a group of young people to think about at this time It is well to give yourselves the self analysis treatment in terms of your future possibilities. This might in- clude an evaluation of your personalities, academic preparation, inter' ests and aptitudes and personal philosophies of life. Once in a while one hears someone say Uh, if only l had known what the future would be like when I was much younger l would have planned differ- ently. But we don't know exactly what the future has in store for us and it is good that we do not have this knowledge, Not to be able to clearly foresee the future is a great motivating force in our lives and when this uncertainty is coupled with strong faith that our being is a part of a great and important plan, the consummation of which de- pends to some extent upon how well we play our part, we begin to realize how essential it is to be. prepared to use our talents to their fullest capacities. The future is certain to'be rewarding to those who are prepared to meet the eventualities of the time. lt can he all the more rewarding when one plans to develop his interests and talents to the degree required to put him in harmony with the finest that life may offer, but this can not be achieved without sacrifice, persistent effort, failures and discomforts. These are the things that make one stronger and better able to solve satisfactorily problems that are sure to follow. The Quote of the Monthm, a feature in a recent publication, ex- presses a thought with which one should refresh himself often. I-Ie was our classmate, but more than that, he was the one who showed us what life was, for Eddie loved life and everything about it. file faced each day as a whole new life to be enjoyed and laughed at, the word happiness seemed linked to his name. Eddie looked forward to the future as something to be shared with his classmates, and now we look forward to being with Eddie in the future. As long as one member of the Class of '52 still lives, so will Eddie, for none of us will ever forget his smile. Eddie bequeathed to the Class of ,52 a belief in the future that will last us through our lives. During the year the cheerleaders held clances after football games and sponsored food sales. Before each football game they put on a pep assembly, and before the Thanksgiving Day game a big Pep Rally was held, The cheerleaders attended all Varsity foot- ball and basketball games both home and away. For football season the squad bought new sweaters, the money for which was earned by their own efforts.
