.,,,.-,. .M ,-v.-... , ,mF,,,T.L I 1 i zi 4 4 E E 1 PRINCIPAL ERVIN R. FLETCHER PRINCIPAUS MESSAGE Former students and classmates are coming home-home from the battle fronts across the seas, lVith one great strug- gle ended a new and even more complicated one presents itself-the enduring peace of the world-to be won or lost ac- cording to the strength of the wisdom, faith, courage, and magnanimity of its peoples. just as big pleasures and great happiness are but the consummation of many little pleasures and deeds of kindness, so is lasting peace the consummation of the many little acts of friendliness, mutual respect, thoughtful- ness. and true justice toward every one in each community whatever their nationality or creed. This is the challenge, and if every community has well laid foundations in these respects there is hope for enduring world order and peace. As the class of 1946 leaves the portals of Port Jervis High School we would point out once again that the wav we are facing has everything to do with our destination. lt has been the desire of the Board of Education and the faculty to give you the best that the community can afford. XVc have done our best to hcl-p you acquire knowledge and skills which will stand you in good stead among your fellow citizens. And what is more, we hope we have given you opportunities to acquire the attributes for true success-a grateful heart, a thoughtful mind, a kindly word, a helpful hand, a loyal and courageous spirit, and lastly, the ability and willingness to pull your own weight wherever you may be.
