PRINCIPAL ERVIN R. FLETCHER March 16, 1945. Thomas Carlyle has said, The man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder. Thus it behooves all of us in these times of stress and confusion to be strong in our purpose and effort and faith. In the air and on the sea the navigator is obliged to take his bearings frequently to know where he is. If he fails to do this, he can not intelligently direct his course and achieve his objective. All of us are navigators in a sense and if we have early formed a habit of taking our bearings to Hnd out where we are, we will find it much easier to arrive at where we are going. It is the most sincere hope of our entire faculty that we have helped you to find and to acquire the habit of frequently taking your bearings. Our best wishes go with each and every one of you for a very successful trip on the journey ahead. ERVIN R. FLETCHER Principal.
