HS. v4..llI- Jerry Shillings, Castulo Coach Champion, Johnny Bar- Marchan, John LaRoche, and The first game of the season was played on our new court. The Tar- pons won this game by defeating El Jardin 45-17. The Tarpons journeyed to Los Fres- nos to defeat them 44-21. During Christmas vacation the Tar- pons were defeated by Edinburg 47- ll. The Tarpons played a close game with Santa Rosa, but the Tarpons downed them 22-20. St. Joseph's Academy defeated the Tarpone 28-25 to average last years score, when the Tarpons defeated them 45-18. Another defeat was suffered by the Tarpons when Brownsville Ion the game 43-26. Bio Hondo came to the Tarpon's new court and were defeated by the Tar- pons 30-20. The Tarpons met Rio Hondo for the second time in a week and again Rio Hondo was defeated 34-25. Next years prospects should be good as Shilling, Farrar, La Roche, S. Galvan and Rivera will be back to form the nucleus of the team. 79

Co-Captain Joe Marchan is the only Senior on the team this year, he has played with the Tarpons 3 years. He is a guard. Co-Captain Johnny Earrientz is a Junior and has played with the team 5 Years- He is a forward. Forward Pete Galvan is a Junior. He has played with the team 2 years. Center Uvaldo Holland has played with the team 3 years. He is a Junior. b Guard Castulo Vasquez is the only Sophomore on the team. He has played 2 years. The other five members of the team are all Freshmen. They prove to be a 8000 lot too. Don Farrar is a guard. Santana Galvan is a forward. John LaRoche is a forward. Roberto Rivera is a forward.
