Superintendent and board work to Superintendent of Schools Gerald C Bradley Gerald C Bradley, an active member of several state and na- tional education programs, as well as local community better- ment projects, has been our Superintendent of Schools since July, 1963. Mr. Bradley came to Port Huron in 1951 as assistant superintendent and secretary- treasurer. He has participated in two building programs and the annexation program that increas- ed Port Huron High’s enrollment from 7,000 to 14,000. June 30, 1965 will end Mr. Bradley’s forty years of public school work. We are grateful for his service in the Port Huron Area Schools and wish him well in his retirement. Once each month it met to handle the many normal board functions such as policy making, approval of new personnel, ap- propriations of budgets and expenditures, and approval of new programs. One meet- ing each month was devoted to a study of a phase of the curriculum. Many extra meetings were called to take action on various stages of the building program and other problems. P.H. N.H.S. was opened January 25, 1965 and additions were completed at Chippewa, Fort Gratiot, and Washington Intermediate Schools and at Harrison Elementary School. Construction was begun on Fort Gratiot and Sparlingville Elementary Schools and the Howard D. Crull Intermediate School. Planning for the new science and library addition to Port Huron Junior College and the Jefferson Elementary addition was carried forward. An important and difficult duty of this year was the selection of a superintendent. As Mr. Bradley’s successor, the Board selected Dr. Gerald S. DeGrow, current Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.
