Sommerville Principal Realizing the importance of high scholastic standards and extracurricular activities, Mr. Sommerville plans and works diligently to see that every student is given an opportunity to develop intellectually and personally during his high school years. Even though the problems which arise due to a large student body, inconvenient scheduling and an overcrowded building keep him extremely busy , he is always willing to work with students and teachers in solving school and personal problems. Because of his patience, understanding, and dedication, the students of Port Huron High School are proud to have Mr. Sommerville as their principal.

Administrators provide Miss Florence C. Wiese, our faithful, patient, and kind assistant principal works closely with the administration, the faculty, and the students. Miss Wiese is responsible for all school records and the internal accounts of the school. She also correlates the work of the counselors and supervises attendance. Students first meet Miss Wiese at Freshmen Orientation, and later when they take the scholarship and aptitude tests. As Seniors they consult her to obtain scholar- ship and college information. The influence of her counseling, testing, and supervision will remain with students long after graduation. 4

Duties of Administrative Mr. Ernest Gerke Dean of Students are numerous Mr. Ernest Gerke, Dean of Stu- dents, keeps an active schedule dur- ing the day. In addition to time- tabling all school activities, he sees that students conduct themselves ac- cording to school rules. Mr. Gaylord Feick and Mr. James Overly, Assistants to the Principal, find that their responsibilities are numerous and varied. However, their primary concern is to assist Mr. Sommerville and Miss Wiese to carry out many administrative duties. Mr. Overly works during the morning ses- sion, and Mr. Feick, the afternoon. In addition to working with teachers , students, and the activities of the morning session, Mr. Overly is busy this year with specific planning for the new high school - last fall he was chosen to be principal.
