Oral Communication is vital Merrie Lynn Herrmann, Gary Crankshaw, Judith Van Luven, and Kenneth Smith were the chairmen of panel groups, each of which had read and dis- cussed three poems by Emily Dickinson in Mrs. Houck’s American Literature class. Each group presented the poems for class discussion. In Miss MacLaren’s American Literature class Jeanette Drescher read an excerpt from “The 22 Scarlet Letter” by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
