During the winter and spring months, the band gives concerts and entertains prior to each assembly program. We are very fortunate to have such a fine and interested group of musicians in PHHS. 69 OFFICERS' COUNCIL 3 .J , President Charles Stoudt Vice-Pres. David Hall Sec'y-Treas. The 5-3-1 record was much better than ad been anticipatedg because of the reat losses through graduation from last year, tie team was com- posed of several juniors. Fifteen members of the team were seniors: Co- Captains Lyle McAuley and Louis Mastersg Ron Groh, Doug Hanton, Jerry Campbell, Dave Bell, Don Krinna Gerald Spadafore, Roger Hanton, Bruce Hazen, Orval Shagena, Dou MacEachin, Bob Hanton, Jerry Belyea, and Jerry Hogge. Many of these boys played an im- portant part in maintaining our victory string of 26 games that was broken by Grosse Pointe last year. Birmingham won the league championship by winning two games, one 51 to 48, and the other 53 to 51 in overtime. Lansing Eastern kept the Big Reds from the finals of the Regional tourney by making a basket as the gun sounded for the game's end, thereby nosing the Port Huron squad by a 47 to 46 score. Lyle McAuley, Richard Robins, Gerald McClure, Roger Hanton, and Don Capps teamed up as the starting five while Gaylord Forbes and Don Radike served as the first replace ments in the guard and forward spots. Michael Faust and Ed Rankin also contributed enough to win letters. This group combined to give the team a record of 8 wins and 9 losses. However, only Toledo Scott won decisively. All others were close decisions including two overtime games, a win against Ferndale, and the above-mentioned loss to Birmingham. Richard Turner, Carl Chandler, Richard Walke Bob Hart, and Jerry Wine completed the varsity squad. The tenth grade team under Coach Robert Hayes com- pleted themost successful season in a number of years. Only Pontiac, Grosse Pointe, and Mt. Clemens were able to out score the Little Reds. The Mt. Clemens' team was later beaten in the second game, thereby finishing the season against the league teams with a 9 won and one lost record, or ll wins against 3 losses for the season. Kenneth Mar- tin was the high scorer for this group with Ronald Wells, Jan Charron, Warren Wade, Jerry Barr, and all the others adding valuable support for the season.
