Champs ot 1952 By Mr s Doyle The trtp to Owendale was o k for us We won our ftrst game after qulte a b1t of fuss But as the old saymg goes the team that wms 1s best From that day on we began playmg wxth zest Ubly was next From them a good game we d1d take But their glrls were mce they served us ice cream and cake Our trlp to Ruth on a brxght sunny day to vmslt St Peter and Paul s a close game we d1d play Our coach was bushed and the team tuckered out We won that one too after qu te a strenuous bout Down In the Port Hope showers you could hear the cry and scream We won No fooling Ruth has a good team We were hostess Klnde our neighboring town We took that game too wlth not so much as a frown They v1s1ted our falr vlllage, so near the lake, and we were nice to them too We served them 1ce cream and cake So we close a successful year of basketball wlth a cheer Our school colors are blue and whlte whlch stands for purity and light But let s change It to white and blue We re all proud of you champtonshlp wmners of 1952 Dorns lean lanky and sl1m Feed her the ball and she ll flnd the r1m Marnlee When ln the game she flghts for her team But a good sport on the bench she glves with lots of scream Glorxa She guards them standmg up or lying down She glves her opponent not so much as a frown lune She gives them that smile and sho. s not very tall But brother she ll guard that old basketball xrley She s up on her feet and down on the floor Wrth everyone yellmg Score Score Score Yvonne She s a scream We hope next year coach buys boxmg gloves for the team Allene The smallest of them all but glve her tlme She ll do something wlth that basketball Marjorte She s a llttle Freshman who came to us thls year She ll do all rlght ln basketball never fear Elleen So calm and qulet But when she starts maklng baskets, what happens why a RIOT oan So cool and collected When she fouls she s not affected Mabel Plays the game for all there IS ln 1t For she knows she might be yanked out any nunutf But if on the floor or bench she s1ts for awhlle she s a good sport and gives w1th a smlle Cheryl She runs errands, keeps score and hears every one scream She does all of the odd Jobs for her basketball team When they have won and all let out a stgh, Cheryl slts down and has a good cry Coach Gudakunst She frowns she smiles she pulls her ha1r as she cautlons her glrls to always play falr She heaves, she sighs and lets out a groan, and listens to the glrls as thexr mistakes they bemoan Wall the gurls Oh Coach How w1ll we ever ruse to fame? Says she, Now gurls xt s only a basketball game But when there are only a few mmutes of pla we fear we w1ll surely lose today The girls guard and they pass and finally sunk a beauty for no one else but good old coach GUDIE Boots She loves to play but says to coach when the game IS t1ght I m scared I don t want to play ball tonlght Elame She s a Sophomore as all of you can see Whether playmg ball or dolng work happy she wxll always be orothy She pivots here and scampers there, nd pxcks the ball right out of the a1r She trucks them and fools them and runs down the floor and helps make her team happy bv raxsxng the score ylhs She may be kmd of short, but makmg her free shots makes the opposmg team snort janet She s 1n there fnghtmg for her team mates to wm If they lose she hates It lxke sm arllyn A very qulet and easy gomg girl but she msn t afraxd to give that old basketball a whirl ary She s tall and on her feet very qulck Playlng basketball she knows almost any old trlck She Jumps center, she guards and moves l1ke a streak Under her guardlng the forwards are really meek . . .
