We gave the annual Valentine Forty on February ll. It WSS considered one of the best all-school parties ever held. Mr. Hoff, our Soonsor, ruffled off the girls' brightly decorated box lunches to the highest bidder, Some enormous annetites were revealed for some boys bought three or four boxes. Or was this because they had designs uoon a particular girl's box? A new olan was initiated for helping inexperienced stu- dents mastcr the art of dancing. This was the first time this sort of activity had been carried on. The experienced dancers directed the inoxnarienced. Now, nractically every student can take osrt in dancing and there are no wall flowcrsn any more, The gym was decorated in rod and white crepe paper streamers with a lighted crona lantern hanging from the center. On April 23 we Sonhomores had a scavenger hunt and Weiner roast at Curt Kaely's camp, All Sonhomoras and their guests assemb- led at the high school, At a scheduled time we started on Hthc huntn having only one hour. Aftcrvard we all went to the cann and had a good time roasting marshmallows and weiners. In inril, also, we Soohomore members of the Home Ec classes helped the Freshmen girls out on the Faculty-Board dinner un- der the direction of Miss Pearsall. Nancy Skelton, a Sopho- more, with six Freshmen girls--Gwen Evans, Beverly Dailey, Mary Noah, Lorine Bunn, Carol H rmes, Lorraine Love--served as wait- resses. Darian Einoar, Sonhonore, was Chairman of the kitchen workers and three Sonhonoras--Mildred Boiling, Anna Hao Lind- shield, Judy Barker--with four Freshmen--Catherine Skelton, Luanne Frits, Lola Pannell, and Marilyn Finch assisted her. Two Sonhonore girls--Joan Zwolanek and Joyce Nuehle--and two Freshmen girls--Vary Saunders and Joyce Halls--gave a short orogrnn entitled HBlanning Good Heals.H Several nenbers of the Sonhonore class had a oart in the April Operetta. Joan Zwolanek had a leading nart and with her sis- ter, Haney, Senior, and Bob Carlson, Junior, sang several du- ets. She and Nancy also danced HThc Lett ',b. r Dancen and HThe Family Han,H Vidg: Boiling, Marilyn Thorngren, Nancy Skelton were cowgirls. Judy Barker was a oeasant girl, Marian Eipper was in HThe Latter Danceug Anna Rae Lindshicld was a ghost, and Bob Villams was a cowboy and also a ninuot dancer, We Sonhomores heloed the Seniors out on their Spring Carnival ' in the gyn on the evenings of Hay l3 and 145 Joan Zwolanek and Judy Barker helned Dick Strandgard at the Balloon Board, Herb Nndsager hclned in the Fun House, Chuck Williams sold tic- kets on a HFootball Rafflcgn while Joyce Nuehle, Hildrcd Reil- ing, and Nancy Skelton assisted at the Refreshment Booth. Out of nineteen Sonhomores who enrolled on September 2, seven- tzen connleted the year.
