“Junior Class Play--nThey Gave Him a Co-Edu On April 2, in the high school gym, the Juniors, directed by Mar- ian Henry, presented their class play, WThey Gave Him A Co-Edn. Full of rollicking good humor, mystery, suspense, and action, it was greeted with hearty applause by an enthusiastic audience. The plot was whacky, perhaps the most whacky of any plot ever con jured up in the fertile mind of any dramatist. Maybe the term Wscrewyn would better describe it. The setting is that of a lounge room in the Cold Canyon College Assembly Building and the entire action of the play takes place in mid-February. ' The topic of the hour is the new Dean, Charles Bradley Brown CEarl Bullb whose arrival is momentarily expected. A new student CDon Wuehlel pops in. He has the coincidental name of Dean Brown. He's a plain unvarnished American boy, simply unmindful of his many educational shortcomings, yet frank and breezy as youth can be. His name electrifies the group of students, and then the fun begins. He is assigned one of the girls, Gloria' Manson CMary Lou Engebretsenl and the Registrar, Miss Howard CBarbara Johnson? persists in giving him an advance in his sal- ary. Poor guy, he's thrown completely overboard in an maelstrom of riotous happenings that chaotically bewildering, not only to Dean but to the audience as well. By the time the real Dean arrives, news has reached Cold Canyon College that there is a lunatic abroad, and the co-eds eye all new-comers with suspicion. Added to the confusion is the arrival of an eccentric photographer CFranklin Sampleb who invites co-eds to pose with Hthe left arm on the back of the davenport,n then discovers nDrat it, you're not the one,N The plot is so bewilder ing that the audience finds itself asking, NJust which is the de- mented oneu? Even the real Dean's sanity is questioned. By the time a real lunatic finds his way into the college, the co-eds are so confused CGlee Luecke, Barbara Lewis, Dorothy King, Wilma Hayes? and so frightened that their boy friends CBob Carlson, Marty Shannon, Truman Langhofer, Don Fritsj have no difficulty in dating them. In fact, they can hardly get away from them. In the end, the real lunatic CDuane Smith? is taken back to the asylum, and peace and quiet is again restored to Cold Canyon College.
