The- Tigers bared their fangs, ripping open the Red Devil Cagers in , an early--season burst of scoring power that gave them an easy 39-16 victory in the Two-Rivers loop opener. Next game with Coal Valley, here, November 18, Devils lost their second game, 32-27, a herd fought game, providing an even- ing of excitement for sport-loving fans, Played Cordova, there, November 21--our first win, 30-27--a non- Conference game, close all the way. Erie--our next opponent, November 25, in a non-Conference game, here, Another loss, 57-27, Conference game,with Hillsdale, here, December 2. Our first Conference victory, 48-321 Much rejoicing! December 5, the Red Devils met Tampico, there, in a non-Confer- ence game--our victory, 35-212 Played Coal Valley again on their floor, December 12--another win but a narrow margin, 35-321 Game with Prophetstown, here, December 15--Conference game. Lost! A heartbreakerl 41-40. Played Mineral, there, December 23, in a non-Conference game. Lost another close game, 35-321 Another heartbreaker. January 2, the Red Devils played Port Byron Alumni, winning 40- 30. County Tourney opened at Reynolds, with Port Byron playing in the first round, January 7. Bad luck! Lost 28-25. Played Cordova for Consolation honors, January 9. Beat them easily 36-24, Played Fulton for the first time, January 13, there. Slow start! Low ceilings! We lost 53-44, Game with Hillsdale, there, January 16. Beat them plenty bad in a non-Conference game, 48-25, Two-Rivers Tournament opened at Erie, January 19, Played Hills- dale in the first game. Our win 41-32. January 21, Prophetstown cagers proved their cage prowess by turning back the Devils in the semi-finals of the Two-Rivers Conference, S5-35, Prophets jumped into a quarter lead of 13-5 and kept pouring the coal on until they had built up a final 20

Thicksten and Ackeberg were the Prophets noint leaders, Earhart of the Red Devils kent his team in the- game with 12 points. - January 22, two trophies were disposed of when Hilisdale defeat- ed Cordova for the Consolation Championship and At inson defeat- ed the Red Devils for third place honors, 54-26. January 27, played Lyndon in a Conference game, there. Not much trouble beating them, 47-26. Played Cordova again, January 30, in a non-Conference game, here. Easy victory for the Red Devils, 46-122 Game with Tampico, here, February 2. Won another non-Confer- ence game, 46-37, Played Erie again in a Conference game, there, February 6. Oh, that first quarter! We lost! 57-42. Played Lyndon February 10, here, non-Conference. Won an easy victory, 61-36. i Conference game with Annawan, here, February 13. Another vic- tory 43-35. Played Thomson, there on February 17. Devils behind one point at the half. Bad third quarter! Lost 48-39. Congratulations, Coach Munson. February 19, played Sherrard, there, Sure was our lucky night. Althgugh we were behind 27-17 at the half, we came back to win 41-3 , February 25, at Orion-a split-second thriller. Squeezed out a close one against Cordova 29-28 in the final ten seconds of play Score stood 6-6 at the end of the first quarter. Cordova Pan- thers tried desperately to knock the Devils from the tourney. A second quarter spurt-out lead, 18-13, at the half. Cordova came back with increased vengeance in the third and final per- iods. Drew up to a 25-25 tie with only three minutes left. Pan demonium broke loose. Bennett of Cordova rolled in a free thru , Panthers in the lead. Ullrick's drive-up goal brought Cordova's margin 28-25, Then Wuehle of Red Devils fame blasted through with a basket, Score 28-27, with only 12 seconds left. Cor- dova took time out. As time was called in, Wuehle grabbed the ball and slid through for the winning goal. February 26 at Orion--suffered a 55-22 defeat which barred us from further district comnetition--our swan song--and prevented participation in regional play.
