Paul Monson, Coach, was in charge of sports columns and news was contributed from the various clubs and classes. In 1946-47, the Ink Spot printed monthly over one hundred cop- ies of the paper, school subscriptions absorbing most of this number. The Staff continued to send to service men, to Board members, to out-of-town subscribers, and to other schools. The Senior typing class rendered invaluable service by fold- ing, tearing, counting paper, and doing most of the spacing incident to stenciling. Norma Jean Frits was appointed Edi- tor-in-Chief. She was assisted by Jacqueline Kerr, Frances Peterson, Mildred Pearsall, Dolores Skelton, Patricia Wal- ther, and Shirley Jacobsen-a smaller Staff than in previous years but just as efficient. Marvin Wuehle wrote sport news, Mary Stearns and Joyce Tyler contributed the very popular gos- sip columns, Frances Gilbert was in charge of subscriptions and to her efficient work is due the credit for a larger per- centage of subscriptions in 1946-47 than in any year preced- ing. Ninety-three students received the paper each month. Members of the faculty wrote the monthly editorials-Cathar- ine Perring, the September welcome to the in-coming Freshmen class and the October write-up on the history of Hallowe'en customs, Varian Boardman, The True Meaning of Thanksgiving for the November issue, Marian Henry, The Christmas Spirit for the December issue, the January issue featured the Rock Island Tourney. The February issue had a resume of the Two- Rivers Tournament at Erie and Coach Hoff's editorial on Ath- letics with its fundamental basis of leadership, sacrifice, emotional stability, persistence, devotion tofu cause, deter- mination, self-reliance, and subordination of self to the en- tire sports unit, whether to be football, basketball, or track Clyde Hofflund contributed an article on Industrial Education for the March Issue, and Mr. Hall wrote the concluding April editorial on the Values of Education. The 1947 Staff feels that it has maintained a high standard of achievement, it has prided itself'on correctness in spel- ling and composition, it has kept abreast of the news, has published what it thought would be of interest to the great- est number, its gossip has never been malicious. The paper has become very popular with the student body and its publi- cations are eagerly anticipated each month. One hundred and twenty-five copies are run off each month, the school absorb- ing most of this number. Thirteen are sent to servicemen, and there are five outside subscriptions. Subscription price has remained thirty-five cents, in spite of increased cost of paper, ink, and stencils which has added twenty-five percent to last year's cost of publication. ---
