DOLORES SKELTON Valedictorian This honor is given to the Senior who has main- tained the highest scholastic average over a period of four years at the Community High school. D.A.R. Award This honor is given by the Mary Little Deere Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolu- tion to the girl in the Senior class who is selected by the faculty from among the three polling the highest number of votes cast by Senior class mem- members. ' FRANCES GILBERT Salutatorian This honor is given to the Senior who has main- tained the second highest scholastic average over a period of four years at the Community High school. SENIOR HONORS 1946-1947 X X , IACQUELINE KERR A Faculty Award This honor is given by vote of the faculty to one member of the Senior class on the basis of coopera- tlomndependability, school spirit, responsibility, and oya y.

' -.- SENIOR HONORS' The Valedictorian of the l947 graduating class is Dolores Skel- ton who maintained the highest scholastic average over a period of four years at high school. Dolores entered the Community High School from the grade school where he did outstanding work also. She has always taken a keen interest in high school af- fairs parti cipating actively in clubs, publications, glee club, band, and class plays, and supporting all forms of athletics. In the past one of four uted in no two years she has served as a class officer and was cheer leaders whose loyalty and enthusiams contrib- small measure to the success of the athletic program during '46-7. Dolores was co-captain of the girls' basketball team in her Junior year and captain when she was a Senior. In her Senior year she assisted Hr. Hall in the office two periods a day. De is very popular among the student body and is a loy- al supporter of the school and its teaching staff. The Salutat orian of the 1947 graduating class is Frances Gilberi who maintained the second highest scholastic average over a peru iod of four years at high school. Frances, also, has always taken a keen interest and an actfve part in life at Community High School . She entered high school from the Port Byron Grade School and became a member of the Glee Club, GAA, and Pep Club, and was an active member of the Home Bc Club. She was in the cast of both the Junior and Senior plays, having a prominent part in the Book Staff, campaign in great part, Frances had latter. Frances served on the Ink Spot and Year acting as subscription salesman during the Ink Spot the fall of 1946 and to her efforts was due, in- the record of 1001 in subscriptions for that year. a host of friends among the student body and has supported whole heartedly all school activities. From the three Seniors selected by vote of the Senior Class as most deserving of the Good Citizenship Award given annually by the Mary Little Deere HolinerChepter of the D ughters of the American Revolutionito Port Byron, East Moline, and Moline High Schools, Dolores Skelton received the majority vite of the Fac- ulty. This award is given on the basis of dependability, lead- ership, patriotism and service--four superior qualities which under lie g ood citizenship. This year Jacqueline Kerr was the recipient of the Award re- ceiving the majority vote of Faculty members as the most out- standing student in all four classes of high school in School citizenship . Jac possesses initiative, dependability, is co- operative, assumes responsibility and leadership, is an unus- ually good studcnt having maintained a high scholastic average over a period of four years, is a loyal supporter of her school
