The Associa- s first activity was a Volley Ball Tournament on Novem- 7, to which the public was invited. The Seniors took place, Juniors second, Sophomores third, and Freshmen h. A Hobby Show was sponsored on December 5, the prize he most unusual and interesting hobby going to Marie He- for a paper napkin collection. On December 8, the Home on was the scene of a real HScramble Suppern with mem- enjoying ping-pong and dancing in the gym. On January he Association sponsored an all-school party honoring el Waters, Industrial Arts and history instructor. A tball Club was organized and members competed in the Telegraphic Basket-shooting Contest, rating second in tate. In inter-class basketball tournaments, first went to the Sophomores, second to the Juniors, third to eniors, sted of and fourth to the Freshmen. The Cabinet representatives from each class were guests of East Mo- in a joint meeting of East Moline, Moline, and Port Byron iations on November 6, and on December ll, invitations issued to four representatives of Port Byron G.L.A. to four from East Moline to witness the initiation of new rs from Moline Senior High. Jacqueline Kerr, Sue Lamb, Jean Schmoll, and Norma Jean Frits represented Port By- igh School. Invitations were unique, requesting our Assoc- n to attend an NEmployees' Picnic.H . was the name of the city, the president of the East e G.A.A. was the Mayor and the other members were the officials. Representing the various departments of city nment were Fire Department, Street Cleaning, Garbage Co- ion, Telephone Company etc. Visiting schools were rep- ted by one member in each department which then competed oints in various sports: relay race, quoits, baseball, fle board, golf etc. 'Winners of all events was the t Cleaning Department which included our Joan Schauland s team. Sack lunches were eaten in the school cafeter- d East Moline hostesses served cake and milk. in September of 1946 Marian Henry took over the sponsor of the G.A.A. Dolores Skelton was elected president, Stearns, vice-president, Joyce Tyler, secretary, Mildred all, treasurer. The iation continued to increase in membership, and by May -two girls responded to roll-call. Competive basketball was enjoyed, the four classes playing a series of games for cla s championships. On larch 12, the G.A.A. joined with the Pep Club in sponsor- ing the First Athletic Banquet ever given by the high school to onor the football and basketball players. . G.A.A.
