World War Il Mo- ther orepared and served a delicious three-course dinner at whici Coach Hoff and his trophy winners were guests of honor. His oetbsll squad won the first football trophy ever present- ed by the TwoeRivars Conference to a winning team, his basket- ball tcam earned Consolation hcnors in both the Rock Island Coun y and the Two-Rivers Tournaments and entered the District Tour ament, winairg over Lyndon in thc initial contest, but losi g the chance for further participation in District play throfgh a fourteen-ooint loss to Orion. The ,yn was appropriately decorated in red and white streamers whic formed a canopy under which the eight tables were placed To Juan Zvolenek, Nancy Skelton, and Vildred Railing goes the cred t for attractive center-pieces depicting scenes in both foot-all and basketball, to Narian Henry, Club Adviser, the cred t for unusually decorative programs containing a complete reco d of the season's competitive football and basketball game. with scores and dates, names of players, and awards, Gues 3 of the evening, in addition to Coach Hoff who acted as toes master, included Coach uShortyH Almquist of the Bock IS- land High School, speaker of the evening, Reverend Cedric Pow- ell, oastor of the Fairfield and Port Byron Methodist churches who led group singing, Principal C.S, Hall and hrs, Rall, Var- ian enry of the faculty, Adviser to both the Pep Club and the GAA who deserves most of thc credit for sponsoring this first movelent to honor the high school Coach and teams, and the hig. school cheer leaderse-Mildred Railing, Joan Zwolanek, Mild ed Pearsall, and Dolores Skelton. .
