Growmg 1n umbers X .489 QQ rw El T0 B!lll'1l'l23 11' A , THIS SITE Ll Ihlinnr-nn.. r Q Because of the mcreasrng grovsth of our school drstrlct partrcularly rn the last few years rr has been found necessary to make plans for a separate school to house Kindergarten through thrrd grade On june 1 1952 the total number of puprls was 1 13 Thrs means an overcrowdrng now of 337 elementary puprls and by 1957 of 565 pupxls By frgurmg thrrty puprls to a room rt means a shortage of eleven classrooms nova and of erghteen by 1957 To solve the above problem the voters of our drstrrct approved a plan for a new elementary school vshrch wrll be very modern and have the latest safety equrpment The busses wrll transport the pupxls drrectly to and from the school and wrll unload the puprls on the srdewallxs near the burldxng Ample parkmg space wrll be provrded for school personnel and publrc on the north srde of the burldmg The classrooms vull be large enough for unlxmrted future expansron and there wrll be separate play areas for the Kmdergartens through the thrrd grades It IS our hope that all the plans now berng la1d for this new elementary school wrll be successfully completed so as to brmg rmmedrate relref to our over crowded condmons At the February meetrng, of the Port Byron Central School Board of Educatron the board members voted to name the new elementary schogl the Arthur Gates Elementary School rn honor of our prmcrpal who has served thrs commumty for thxrry two years as Supervls mg rmcnpal U.LLrA.l.AL.IJ.L. -I-4 L.l.LLJ l 1 J- IPAIA rua' SEA ,.
