Port Austin Public Schools 8321 N. Van Dyke Rd. Port Austin, Michigan 48467 THE WAY WE WERE Memories.. «like the corners of my mind, misty water color memories ... of the way we were. Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind, smiles we gave to one another .. .for the way we were. Can it be that it was all so simple then, or has time rewritten every line ? If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we...could we? Memories may be beautiful and yet, what's too painful to remember, we simply choose to forget. So it's the laughter we will remember, whenever we remember . „. the way we were. Memories... this book is filled with them; they're here to help us remember ... The Way We Were. Scattered Pictures.. .oh look! There's that class bully, he was always so mean... didn't she have the cutest freckles you ever saw.. .there's that old maid school teacher. We used to hate her 'cause she'd catch us playing hooky and send us to the office... and there is a picture of our team in action . . .even when they were loosing, we thought they were the greatest.. . The way we were, the way we are, the way we will be.. .Memories can't be erased. We remember the good times and the bad ones. Was it easier then, or is it better now ? If possible, would we want to change the way we were? No, those memories must stay as they were, but we can use what we learned from them now, in the present, and start making better memories for the Future. DEDICATION x: o (O a) X! O x: a. JOHN D. First of all, since there was no football at PA last year, it marked the return of float-making and the traditional parade down Main Street. Secondly, half-time entertain- ment was provided by the Carsonville High School Marching Band. And finally, but sadly, the Pirates lost several players to injuries and lost the game. Spirits were lifted somewhat later in the day as everyone gathered together for the annual Homecoming Dance. THE LAST OF MRS. LINCOLN Directed by: Gary E. The girls not only took first place in the league with a 5-1 record but they also came away the victors in District Tournament competition. 66 Good back-up. Barb! Kathy exhibits the form which helped her remain undefeated for the season. Slug it, Jackie! Gotcha'! Lori, (with lightning speed) succeeds at stealing another base. The Pirates out stole their opponents by a wide margin in every game. 67 Awards Banquet With Spring comes a deluge of banquets. So to be different, instead of a banquet, an Awards Dessert was planned. Over one hundred students, staff, parents and friends took part in the event on May 27. Certificates, pins and trophies were awarded to dozens of deserving students . o .a proud moment for us all. Their record for the season was 20-13. Dave Steinman, a senior and star center-fielder for the Pirates, was named to the 1st Team All-State, as well as the All-Regional and All-League Teams. Another senior, Gary Bubar, was also named to the All-League Team for his fine pitching. Dahn Smith, Dale Brashaw, Dwayne Breuss, and Jamie Oswald all received an Honorable Mention for the All-League Team. 74 The Track Team, coached by Mr. Daniel Bennett and Mr. Patrick Nowak, participated in a number of meets this spring, including one at Central Michigan Univer- sity. The team, made up of a number of under-class- men, shows a great deal of promise for future Pirate endeavors in track. Sorry about the lack of pictures for baseball?track, but we had photography'problems (bad film) and didn't know it until it was too late. 75 May 30, 1975 will be remembered, as both a happy and a solemn occassion for the 39 graduates of the Class of '75.
