p I R A T E WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Every day just gets a little shorter Don't you think ? Take a look around you And you'll see just what I mean. People got to come together Not just out of fear. Where do we go. Where do we go, Where do we go from here ? Try to find a better place But soon it's all the same. But what you got was a paradise It's not just what it seems. The more I look around I find The more I have to fear. Where do we go. Where do we go. Where do we go from here ? I know it's hard for you To change your way of life. I know it's hard for you to do. The world is full of people Dying to be free. So if you don't my friend It's no life for you Nowhere for me. Let's all get together soon Before it is too late. Forget about the past and let Your feelings fade away. If you do I'm sure you•11 see The end is not yet near. Where do we go. Where do we go, Where do we go from here ? by P. Cetera ( as sung by CHICAGO) 9 And when all the speeches are finished, and the diplomas have been handed out, and this book of memories is completed and placed on the shelf, yes, where do we go from here ? You've helped us gain knowledge and broaden our minds, you bring tears to our eyes and put laughter in our voices with your outstanding play productions, and your warm friendship and kind understanding is forever open to all. With deep appreciation and sincere thanks, this Annual is dedicated, to our own Mr. Gary E. Sturm. 4 Mr. Gierhart is always stressing the point that things must change. Why do it that way, he says, just because that's how they've always done it? Besides this philosophical side of Coach Gierhart (and his words of wisdom always seem to make a lot of sense when you think about them honestly), ne has a wonderful sense of humor, which he is quick to display with his jokes and stories. The second half of our double dedi- cation is bestowed upon Mr. Walter David Gierhart, a great philosopher and a fantastic coach. 5 TABLE OF CONTENTS Seniors....................7 Underclassmen............2 3 Staff....................4 5 Activities................61 Advertisers 103 mjMu DIANE MARIE MILLER Meli FHA 1,2,3,4; Chap. The Prom was held at the High School Gymnasium on May l.’th. The evening was enjoy- able for everyone attending. 18 Graduation marks the beginning, not the end... The slickers came appropriately dressed in their pointed shoes, long dresses, bobby socks and greased hair. It was an all day event which was both memorable and enjoyable for all. 68 The Port Austin students participated in several other events this year. (From top) Pee Wee basketball. Slicker-day in the jon, and Mr. Sturm. 69 WINTER FUN AT THE TIP OF THE THUMB To break up a long cold winter, we are for- tunate to have the Annual Winter Carnival. To start it all off, Ollie-the-Jollie Snowman was chosen our Winter Carnival mascot. Grades 7-12 participated in events that took place in the main arena. Trophies were awarded to the classes for their fine efforts. To add to the evening events, we had a talent show which included many participants from our school. 70 This year we started what we hope will become a tradition, which is dress- up day for Halloween. Many students from grades 7-12 participated by dressing in many different costumes, from mummies and witches to bums and bathing beauties. Prizes were awarded for the best costumes. It was an all day event and surely enjoyed by all. INTERNATIONAL THE THESPIAN SOCIETY PRESENTS MRS. CLEMENS Diane Miller November 15,16, 17, 1973 MR. CLEMENS Randy Knoblock DR.
