Unfortunately, memories fade. Through the long, hard efforts of the yearbook staff, this book will serve as a reminder of the moments we've shared, allowing us to hold onto our memories a little longer. . . Try to remember and if you remember, then follow. 3 As another decade comes to a close, the class of ’79 looks back on the many changes that have taken place not only in our class, school, or even community. but in our nation and all over the world. We are proud to have lived and graduated in a decade so filled with progress. We hope that we have lived up to that which other classes have achieved before us in our many activities and in our lives. We accomplished much in the past ten years and hope to accomplish more in the next ten years. So, from the class of ’79, the “Last of the Seventies , the best of luck to the classes of the eighties. 4 5 7 GIRL’S VARSITY BASKETBALL Fron Row (left to right);: Margie Bosworth. Mary Home. Oklahoma! The name brings memories of a lively, vibrant musical that almost never was. For the experience, fun, learning, work, and satisfaction, the cast owes its gratitude to Mrs. Gregg, Mrs. Kelly, Mr. Bennett, and especially Mrs. Dunn for their time, patience, perserverence, and excellent direction. Oklahoma! was an unforgettable musical and a high point in everyone’s year. 92 1 In a firghtening scene, Curly and Jud wrestle savagely as Laurey tries vainly to separate them. 2 Curly is overcome, and Jud drags Laurey viciously away as her dream ends. 3 Meanwhile, Ado Annie (Marti Johnson) is out to catch a fella! In this case, it’s the ped-dler)man, Ali Hakim (Don Horne), and when her father (Larry Bou-don) “insists , he just “cain’t say no. . . . 4 . . . and he doesn’t like it! “Trapped! Hoodblinked! Ambushed! The boys agree that it’s a scandal and a outrage. 93 1 As she prepares for the Box Social, Lau-rey discusses with Curly the gossip about them. “Don’t sigh and gaze at me . . . People will say we're in love 2 Yee-hah! At the Box Social, Curly dances with Laurey’s Aunt Eller (Joanne Metz). 3 Everyone is having a good time until . . . 4 . . . the farmers start fighting with the cowboys over who’s better (or worse). Even Judge Carnes and the Federal Marshall (Les Doane) go at it. The girls insist the farmer and the cowman should be friends. 4 94 1 Finally, peace and order is restored and the dance ends on a wild, happy note; everyone agrees that territory folks should stick together. 2 After the dance, the bidding is on for the hampers. Laurey’s is the last up. and tension mounts in the crowd as Jud bids higher and higher. 3 But by selling everything but his clothes. Curly wins the auction and Laurey. They will later get married and live happily ever after . . . 4 . . . while Will Parker (Doug Horne), Annie’s real boyfriend, is having trouble explaining that “It’s gotta be all or nuthin’” and these shenanigans with Ali Hakim, and others, have gotta stop! They work things out, and ay-yip-ay-o-ee-ay!-they too live happily ever after . . . 95 1. The Preparations: The Class of “79” worked many long, hard hours on the decorations and plans for the 1978 Prom. They chose the theme “Far East” and proposed many creative ideas. They painted murals, built back-drops and folded paper in the ancient origami fashion. Special thanks to the advisors for their help, ideas, and time. % 1 The 1978 Prom Court: clockwise. The Dance: The final result was an original, unforgetable Prom. The Class of “79” gave the Seniors a goodbye dance in an atmosphere of low misty lights, colorful murals. Japanese lanterns, and Oriental pages. Music was provided by “Wicked Truth. and refreshments were punch and authentic fortune cookies. The Class of “79 hopes its “Sayonara to the class of “78 was a wonderful and memorable night. 1. The traditional Court dance. 2. Waiter! 3.
