SENIOR CLASS HISTORY At last we are Seniors and about to graduate. It does seem a little strange that we are about to leave, doesn't it? just try to remember back through the grades, when we started in the iirst grade and climbed through the first four grades. Then to the fifth where we were given home- Work. How thrilling to be big enough to do homework! Those were our first thoughts. Aha! But then came the afterthought, homework, bah! Why did it have to come to this? Then we marched onward to the junior High. What big shots! Seventh graders now. Remember those days when we could see Mr. Rathgeber sneaking through the halls trying to catch someone misbehaving so he could discipline them with his beloved paddle? Oh, happy days! Then to the ninth grade. The wheels of the Junior High. Every one so thrilled. just think, next year we will go to the Senior High! Yes, but just think back to the early days of Senior High. Living that gay dog's life of the cheerful Sophomore. Initiation, initiation, and then for a change a little more initiation -the happy days of which we were so fond. lt really wasn't quite as bad as all that, though it did seem so at the time. Then, oh yes, then to be the carefree, fun-loving junior. Not a bad life at all. Not to have to bother with any initiation. Have a good time. Then you undertake to put on a Prom for the Seniors. You think, Gee, I hope we can put on a good one! In the end, however, everything is fine and you feel sure that your Prom was just a little bit better than last year's. And to be sure, it probably was. And next, oh, joy! We become the monstrous, almighty Senior! Let me tell you the thrill it is to become a Senior. You think you are a big shot, but you really aren't. The only thing different is you are working like mad trying to raise enough money to put out a Yearbook. Finally, however, you accomplish the task and you are all through. Of course there is one other thing different when you are a Senior. You know, or at least you hope, that you won't be back next year. Sh! But that is where I started. So you see, it is just one vicious circle all through life. Remember that! Good-bye and good luck, under classmen! twenty-seven
