enrol' Cjfadd ,Nwfory As our fuve years at P H S draw to an end we remunusce as we look back over the struggles we have had and the wonderful thungs we have shared In T947 a group of very scared and excuted eughth graders entered Poquoson Hugh to begun theur fuve year clumb up the ladder of tume Under the patuent guudance of our teachers we soon overcame our nervousness and gradually began to learn where the rooms were We then elected our class offucers wuth Peggy Gullukun as presudent chose our class colors flower and motto whuch we decuded to keep for our four succeedung years Durung thus year many of us were members of the newlyorganuzed band and other clubs We also took an actuve part un the athletuc program for we were determuned to make a place for ourselves As May Day rolled around we elected Sylvua Berry and Joyce Thompson to represent us un the May Court The followung June there was a happy crowd of eughth graders who receuved their report cards that made them full fledged freshmen lt was a much more learned and experuenced group of freshmen that entered school un Sep tember 48 We had learned a good deal even un nune short months that would be valuable to us through our remounung years un hugh school We were not to be pushed around so we started off by choosung John Graham to lead us We really made bug plans thus year one of whuch was a Valentine s Dance Thus was quute an affair for us and everyone was pleased at the smooth way everythung was done Thus year we had as our representatuves un the May Court Sylvua Berry Gnd Joyce Freeman Two rungs had been climbed and now we were startung on our thurd as we returned un the fall of 49 For our Presudent thus year we agaun elected John Graham Our furst attempt to sponsor a Sadue Hawkuns Day Dance was very successful Joyce Thompson and Dorothy lnsley were our choice for the May Court As the end of our sophomore year drew near we decuded after a rather stormy sessuon to go on a hayrude at Buckroe Beach unstead of having our much post poned dance When the great day arruved and the truck came we were then faced wuth the problem of how to pack eughty sophomores un atruck made for fufty people not to mentuon the food and two large boxes of drunks We were now eager uunuors We had many plans to make and much hard work to accomplish To lead us un our work we selected Gene Chrustman At once we began plannung for the Prom we were to guve the senuors Thus year several Dogpatch characters were present at the Sadue Hawkun s Dance we sponsored It seemed years sunce we had ordered our class rungs, but on a brught day un Aprul the word went around that our rungs had arruved We were very proud when we receuved them and hands were beung flashed around all over school to show them off Lookung forward to May Day we were asked to select three representatuves from our class to the May Court After some urregu larutues un votung and several threats from our sponsors we decuded upon Peggy Gullukun Dora Jean Ferguson and Shurley Hautz The Iunuor class entertauned the senuor class at the annual Prom wuth musuc furnushed by The Townsmen The gym was beautufully decorated wuth pastel colors and Japanese lanterns Every one had a wonderful tume Graduatuon came soon after the Prom and Peggy Gullukun gave the Junuor Response When we arruved at P H S as senuors we got off the buses wuth new dugnuty realuzung that we were to be the leaders of student lufe for the comung year Thus realuzatuon gave us a new sense of responsubuluty To serve us as presudent we elected John Graham and as presudent of the Student Government Harry Gubson Many hours of hard work were spent on the annual but we felt our labors were hughly rewarded when we receuved the funushed copues Everyone was 'oyful when we receuved our class puns unvutatuons and callung cards but we knew the days were gettung very short when we would no longer be at Poquoson Hugh As we marched up the ausle the musuc was played softly Thus was the last tume we would assemble together as members of the senuor class There was a touch of sadness un our hearts but also we were happy for we were ready to take our places un the world 6 I C .
