You are a child of the universe, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you . . . no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore — be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life — keep peace with your soul. Deb - Jeanie put that here. Jean - But Debbie I can’t reach that! Deb-2 - Boy are they dumb. Todd Wyles Debbie Wylie When we first came to P.B.H.S. we were excited to be Freshmen. Only others thought we were immature. During our Freshman year we worked hard to gain recognition by showing our spirit in pep assemblies. Being a part of P.B.H.S. meant a lot to us when we were Freshmen and we knew when we finally became a Senior we’d miss P.B.H.S. and ail the swell memories. As Sophomores we thought of ourselves as upper-lower classmen. Now, it was our chance to push the Freshmen around instead of having Sophomores push us around. Our class grew smaller and smaller in pep assemblies. Some were in band or some were in some kind of sport, so our pep wasn’t as loud as all the rest but it was there. Now we are Juniors. We set a new record on magazine sales. The pressure was put on us Juniors for we had to make our Junior-Senior prom the best for us and for the Seniors of '77. Our Senior year will be our most mem- orable year of high school and we look forward to becoming the Seniors of '78. We'll remember the stunts we pulled on teachers and the stunts they pulled on us. All these memories rap up in 4 years of school at P.B.H.S. SOPHOMORES SHOW HOMECOMING SPIRIT! ! ! 203 Take time for friendship when you can. The hours fly swiftly, and the need That presses on your fellowman May fade away at equal speed, And you may sigh before the end That you have failed to play the friend. Not all life’s pride is born of fame; Not all the joy from work is won. Too late we hang our heads in shame, Remembering good we could have done; Too late we wish that we had stayed To comfort those who called for aid. Take time to do the little things Which leave the satisfactory thought, When other joys have taken wings, That we have labored as we ought; That in a world where ail contend, We often stopped to be a friend. BOX 1013 POPLAR BLUFF, MO. 63901 289 ACKLIN, CYNTHIA - These past four years have a lot of memories. I am going to miss everyone I have come in contact with. I give my best wishes to the future seniors of PBHS and thank all my teachers for their guidance and instruction. ACKLIN, TIM - The senior year is a year of expec- tation for the years to come. The high school days, all full of action packed excitement, I think the future seniors can learn from our mistakes so that our country can be the best. The class of '77 is the best and most likely always will be. ALBERS, GRACE CHRISTIAN - “Life is too short to be small. B. Disraeli ALCORN, JOHN - My last comment is to all of the BD's and HR’s I have had the pleasure to be around. You people made these four years of my life almost bearable. We’re all gonna be going our separate ways now, but I’m sure we’ll meet again - probably at the ’’creek!’’ L. P. - I love you! ALLEN, GREG - To me, my senior year has been one of my most fulfilling, but then again its been kind of lonely. Surely you could say that it’s the first year of the rest of my life, but it’s more like get- ting layed off from a huge company because you reached the TOP. ANDERSON, MICHAEL - I have enjoyed my four years as a student at PBHS. Although there have been ups and downs, things seem to have worked out for the better. Now, I want to thank my teach- ers, especially Mrs. Evelyn Jones, for the time she spent on helping my musical career. The future is what I can make best of what I have right here on earth. (LOVE, PEACE, HAPPINESS, and SOUL) ANTONE, DARRELL - The senior class of ’77 is the greatest. I wish the best of luck to the underclass- men in the years to come. ARMES, EDDIE - What I'll miss most about high school is Coach Smith yelling at football practice, Mr. Ladd and Mr. Henson arguing about who is the best fisherman, and Sean jumping from one girl to the next every week-end. Also, I’ve enjoyed par- tying with the Whop, R.A.C., M.A.H., Mules football, Linebackers, Tightends, and baseball are always Number One! ARMOR, DON C. - All things considered, PBHS is the greatest school around. I hope everyone had as much fun as I have had . . . and as much luck. ARNAC, SANDRA - The best part of school were the band trips when we went to Columbia and did things we weren't supposed to. RD, TE, and JM. remember the time I went flying over the bed, talking to Danny for an hour, we laughed forever! School has a lot of memories . . . such as the friends we have learned to love and the fun of try- ing to get away with anything and everything. ARNAC, WANDA - High school has been my rememberance of moments. Moments that I feared and laughed at; ones that were sad and joyous. High school is full of moments to look back on and treasure. ARNOLD, JOYCE - Being a senior makes you think you’re at the top of the ladder, but after gradua- tion you’re at the bottom again. AUBUCHON, CECILIA - My senior year has been one of the best, for me. I guess one reason is because I've tried to make it that. It has meant more to me than any other. Graduation year is a special to every senior. To some it is a sad time and to others it shall be both sad and wonderfully happy. AYOTTE, BECKY - Dream what you dare to dream, go where you want to go. Be what you want to be. LIVE! BARBER, JENNIFER - My senior year has been a great EXPERIENCE, but it has also been a bad experi- ence because I am leaving. BATTEN, LAURA - The thing I remembered most about high school was prom. That was when I learned that we could all work together with a few boards and a couple of cans of paint and come up with something we will remember forever. BELT, SAM - My senior year has been one that I’ll always remember. Meeting new people, laughing, fearing, being together and knowing that you’re a part in something. It’s a feeling I’ll always cher- ish. BENNETT, JAMES G. - I have enjoyed going to school at PBHS and thank all my teachers for help- ing me through it. BIRDSONG, DONNA - As I look back upon my school years, I realize how I've failed and succeeded in different areas; my first taste of life. BOEVING, ALBERT - Like most, I’m sorry to see the year end, I've had the greatest time of my life while I’ve been here; I’ve had some sad moments, too. But I've learned from my mistakes. The years I’ve spent in high school I wouldn't trade for any- thing. The period of our life spent in high school is very trying, but with friends and a little help from God, we made it. BOWLES, HANK - Hail to thee, dear PB high, the school we love so dear, I will always hate to leave you, but I’ll never shed a tear. 290 BOYER, CAROL - My senior year has been a great time thanks to Short Pockets, Cookie Monster, and Sunshine. To you’all the Queen Bee says Good luck and keep on jawn’ on the Ole Flip Flop. BRADLEY, RON - Life at PB high has been fun and HI never forget it. Never forget your years, because they will always be a part of your life. BRITTON, ALZINA - Reach out, touch, and accom- plish your goals. Be a shining star. BRUCE, DIANE - My senior year was a free ride with a lot of friends flying high. Keep your head on straight and you'll make it. BRYLES, JANNA - These past four years have been great while they lasted. The time has come to say good-bye, put the memories of the good times in safe storage and move on to bigger and better things. BULLINGTON, KATHY - The moments of yesterday have come to us, and now they are gone . . . but tomorrow brings a new day and time for us to go on . . . Class of'77 Rules! BUXTON, TOM - I've met many new friends, some nice, some not. That’s the American way. CASEY, GARY - Memories I'm not a poet and probably never will be, And when I'm through with this you will probably agree. I really feel good sitting here thinking about old times, When Mad magazine cost only two dimes. I ifave a lot of memories both good and bad, I will always remember them - no matter how sad. My high school career is coming to an end, and it really is a shame, but before 1 go there are some people I’d like to name: There are two guys known as Bowl- head and Blane, one will go out with anyone, the other with only one dame. To HL and Foureyes there is so much I would like to say, but one thing for sure, in my heart you'll always stay. My last comments are now coming to a close, And maybe to you they haven’t meant a thing, But to me they mean a heck of a lot: They mean MEMORIES, that money could not have bought. CLANAHAN, MARGIE - I’m happy to be finishing my high school education and taking that giant step into the world. The saddest pan of it all is leaving all your underclassman friends behind. Underclassmen, make the most of your senior year, it't the best year ever! and for God's sake - don't take Senior Home Ec!!! CLANAHAN, RANDY - Not even the stars last for- ever, but what is forever but time. It will always be here long after everything is extinguished. (THINK ABOUT IT) COLLINS, KATHI - My,days at PBHS will always be remembered by these people and these statements: CH - Tonight’s the Night. JR - Let's go camping! TH - give me a light! LR - o yea! TF - Roll down the window. DH - Where’s KH? DH - Where’s KR - KK - Stop the car. CT - Where’s KC, GC, EL, GC, DS, SR, etc. CUMBLEY, DAVID - Don't cry good ol' PBHS. For you know you are losing your BEST. Who will take the place of Joey and Gary? Not just any Tom, Dick, or Harry. Although you girls were sweet and your beer tasted good. No one could do it like Crumely could. (Good luck everyone!) DANIELS, LISA - Many years of mixing and molding the past into the future. Goodbye PBHS! DAVIDSON, BETH - PBHS has been loads of fun and I will miss her when I leave. SR. 77 RULES ALL! DAVIDSON, SONIA - My senior year has been great. I just wish that a very close friend, not only mine but of many others, could have been here with us. That is Mary Drury. We sure do miss you, Mary, and will always love you. DAVIS, CJ - Hooray, hooray! I’ve done it! 12 years have gone by and the time has come that I must set out on a journey that will mean success or failure. PBHS, you've given me a start, the rest is up to me. I must keep pushing forward in hope to reach the goals unlimited. To my fellow classmates, I wish the best in the future. DEMARIS, BRENDA - The first semester was very boring staying home all the time with a broken leg and broken arm, and having Mrs. Smith give me my lessons at home. But the second semester is a lot brighter, because I've got my cast off and get to come to school, even though I'm still on crutches. DEMARIS, LYNDA - Well, the good old days are gone now. I will always cherish my memories of the years spent at PBHS. To all the seniors of PBHS: Good luck! DICKENS, DAVID M. - My freshman year I wished I was a senior, my sophomore year I wished I was a senior, my junior year I wished I was a senior. Now that I’m a senior, I wish I wasn’t. DICKERSON, TERI - I will always cherish these past four years at PBHS. The great times I’ve had couldn’t have been possible without Karen’s speeches and smiling eyes; Carissa and her sincer- ity; Laura's strong will; Katie's shortness and cra- ziness; Sara’s Dear Abbey’s and Patti’s spur-of- 291 the-moment ideas. Thanks for everything! DICKISON, RONNIE - Although I have not contrib- uted anything toward the betterment of PBHS dur- ing my one year here, I hope to have left behind a smile for anyone who wears a frown in their heart. DIGGS, LINDA - Ever since your freshman year you've wanted to be a senior. Well, here we are: SENIORS! Funny, now with so many decisions to make you want to be a freshman again. DIGGS, VISTORIA D. - How good it feels to get out of school. This is, I came a long way baby! DILLE, DAWN - Everyone always says how FUN your high school years are. You can't realize it until you’re a senior and look back at those fun-crazy things you did with all the friends. Four years is still not enough. Everyone says how they can't wait to be a SENIOR. Don't wait until your senior year! Show me the way to go home Da Friends. DILLE, DEANNE - My four years of high school have been filled with many fond memories I'll never forget. The good times I’ve shared with my friends thru the years have meant a lot to me. I'll always remember PBHS and all the activities that go into high school. Good luck to the Class of '77. Show me the way to go home - Da Friends. DIVINE, ROBIN - There’s so many things from my high school years I'll never forget. The Bluffer, Mr. Daniels, but especially Teenager in Love (I love you, Tom) DODD, TAMMY - Senior year can be said to be the last curve of the first rocky road. An opportunity that everyone has that everyone should take. DUNCAN, DENIS - My years in high school have been filled with enjoyment and great enlightment. I have found that through hard work and dedication I can reach goals seemingly impossible. I have succeeded in many areas here at PBHS and as I look into my future I see many roads of opportu- nity. PBHS, you've taught me a great deal and opened many doors for me. I only hope I’ve given a part of myself in return. DUNLAP, CRANSTON - It has been a long 4 years that went by too fast. I think the biggest thing I’ll miss most, is getting the teachers so up-tight, and having them find out I'm right. Then I’ll have to admit what I’ll really miss is all those foxes run- ning up and down the halls. EAGAN, BARBARA GAIL - Life is like a long path that you are drawn to by some unexplainable force. And along this road there are many obsta- cles, each one higher than the last. You thought you had used your last strength - but you either make it or fail. If you make it you always ask, was it worth it, but if you fail you will never ask or know. And so much is lost. EDWARD, SHERRY - He who is not ready today, will be less so tomorrow. FR1SH, TRACY - Buddy, thanks for all the good times and the memories - 16. Steve Miller said it so well . . . Time keeps on slipping, slipping into the future . . . Now we're all pan of the future that we never thought would get here. It's going to be different - maybe better, maybe worse. Whatever it is, don’t ever forget the good times of the past. Show me the way to go home - DA FRIENDS. FRITTS, BUD - Our parties were number One, our prom was close to heaven, but what do you expect . . . we're the Class of'77! GAINES, DAVID - This year has been great and I am proud to have been a member of the '76 football mules. Farewell to all my friends and enemies. Best of luck in the future. GARCIA, MIKE - I want to thank all my fellow members of the Class of '77 for allowing me to contribute to the intelligence of this school. I came here with very little intelligence and I’m leaving with no more than I had when I started my senior year! GATLIN, RENE - Boy, I’m glad it’s over. It seems like graduation would never come. But it did and we made it. Well, most of us did, anyway. GILBERT, SALLY - THANK HEAVENS IT’S OVER! GILLIHAN, JANICE - It’s now you realize the end is only the beginning. You have planned your life from this moment. You've prepared for it and now it's time. High school will now be just memo- ries as you go on making all your dreams, hopes, and wishes, come true. GODWIN, ALAN - I enjoyed school and seeing my friends everyday and I like sports a lot, especially baseball. I am going to miss it when school is over. GRAHAM, TERESA - The clock of life is wound but once, And no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop. At a late or early hour. NOW is the only time you own: Love, Live, toil with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow, For the clock may then be still. GROBE, CARL - These past four years at PBHS have been ones I will remember. It has been full of many good memories, but I can't seem to think of 292 any right now. GROBE, JOYCE - During my high school years there were many things that happened that I thought were terrible but now as I look back they all seem so little, because there were a lot more GOOD things that happened. Everything turns out for bet- ter. HAG A, CHUCK - Success is never final and failure never fatal. It's courage that counts. HAMILTON, JERRY - I will always remember the great times I've had at PBHS. Though when times were bad, I could count on my teachers and friends to help cheer me up. After 12 years of misery you’ll write anything. HAMM, STEVE - Smile and no one will know you're mad. HAMMENS, CHERYL - School ... a place to have a great time with your friends, be pushed in the hall, scream your lungs out at a game, and study? The lights on the field and the standing ovation at the end of the show; band was in all of our blood. I will never forget these past four years. HARRELL, MARK - JP, RC, DR, BS, NE, KR, VO, EA: It’s been great partying. Good luck in the future. TF, you're sweet. HARRIS, TAMI - I’ll never forget the Good Times’ at PBHS. The crazy nights with Da Friends out on the town. Remember?! Help Me, Help Me, I’m SO Blue! Happy Haloweenie! S-A-TUR-DAY SATUR-DAY Night! Golden-the-blizzard-Je T’ aime . . . Seniors, as we go our separate ways, remember, we belong together . . . Show me the way to go home - Da Friends! HARTY, JERRY - I think that PBHS is the best school I have ever attended. I’ve gone four years here, and I have learned many things. Finally, the day has come for graduation. Never thought I would make it. HECKER, CINDY - I've been trying to come up with something profound to write, I finally gave up when I found out we graduate in May. I want to thank you’all for everything you've meant to me, and especially for the memories. These are a few that come to mind: REMEMBER: JR: all our camp- outs and animule adventures? TF: all the crazy trips we planned? (Europe, Hawaii, etc). CT and KC: our midnight journies in junior high? DH - being lady-like and the night we got stuck? LR: our E.C. discussions? HENDRICKS, CYNTHIA - Graduating from PBHS has always been my goal since grade school. These past four years have been rewarding, but not all fun. I’ve enjoyed being here at PBHS, now all I’m looking forward to is graduation! HENDRIX, JAMA - Our memories at PBHS are not far beyond. But we shall never forget the times we laughed, the times we cried and the times we stood side by side. Sr. Class of 77 Rules! We all miss you, Mary, You'll always be our teen angel. Da - Friends, our good times from now on are going to be precious and few so let’s enjoy them. Show me the way to go home. Da - Friends. HOLLIS, JAMES - I think there should be a black principal and assistant. Furthermore I think the teachers should all be women and they should wear short dresses, and also be younger 18-24, prefer- ably! HOLLOWELL, MIKE - The class of ’77 has been revin’ ever since '66. We’re lucky. We finally made it - all of us Poplar Bluff hicks! We sure had fun all these years, but thank heaven for ’77! HON, RETTA - I've had a lot of fun and hard work, but I feel it was worth it. I’ll miss this school and the friends I made. Good luck PBHS! HOUSE, DORLA - I can say with complete honesty that the highlight of my life has been my senior year. Being on top is a lot of responsibility, but with the help of my family, friends and God, I know I've made it and done my best. HUDSON, JOY - This year has been great, too bad it 293 has to end. Now it’s on to bigger and better things. Life must go on even if it means saying goodbye to Poplar Bluff Senior High. Bye, PBHS! INNES, KAREN - We didn’t put ”our mark on water towers, Or have to write our names on highschool walls, ’Cause everyone had known since the bigin- ning . . . That the Clas of '77 outclassed them all!! JACKSON, KIM - Anyone who stops learning is old, whether this happens at eighteen or eighty. Any- one who keeps on learning, not only remains young, but becomes increasingly valuable. JACOBS, MARY - My senior year has been wonderful and most enjoyable. I can look back and say I did it, I gave my best and did it to the fullest. JOHNOFF, MIKE - To underclassmen everywhere: This too shall pass. JOHNSON, CINDY - I have been thinking a lot about my friends and teachers and to someone who I care deeply for. PBHS has been the greatest ever as a school, so I thank all and wish everyone in the senior class of ’77 the very best. JOHNSON, KAY - Life is not an open book; It may even seem a mystery. Contrived with such involved designs, Sometimes, it’s hard to read the lines. JONES, ARTHUR - I will remember the times of sit- ting in My. Myers office. I thoroughly enjoyed being a student in Mrs. Jones mixed chorus class and having the opportunity of meeting a lot of great individuals; to Mr. Daniels: I will not be bothering or fighting any of your bus drivers any more. To Mrs. Metz of COE: Thanks for being understanding. I never did skip any of YOUR classes. JONES, BECKY - To reach the port of heaven we must sail, sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it - but we must sail, not drift or lie at anchor. JONES, DENISE - My senior year . . . wow! I thought I'd never make it. It's here at last, and I don’t know if I’m sad or glad. But, I have so many things to look back on, all of the games, parties, and just riding around town. You can’t hold on to your senior year forever but you always have mem- ories. JONES, GREGG - We waited three long years to be seniors, and now, suddenly, it’s almost over. It seems like only yesterday that we were sitting in Mr. Smithee's biology class or eating in the cafe- teria. It’s been a memorable four years packed with memories and this last year has been the greatest, but it all goes too fast. It’s really sad, but we'll always have the memories. KARLISH, LYDIA - Good-bye, dear PBHS. It has been nice knowing you and thanks for the many nice memories I will cherish forever! Ease-up world, I'm not ready yet. Give me another year or two . . . and while you’re at it, how about another Blue Bomb? I'm a Senior - Class of '77. And soon it will all be a treasured memory. Show me the way to go home. Da - Friends. KRAUSS, CARISSA - How can my senior year be described in words? Super, exciting, tremendous, memorable AND fun; they don’t even begin to show the feelings I have about it. I give all the credits to Friends without whom the whole year would have been worthless. To the best of friends, TC, now it’s time to look back on, build on, hope on, and move forward from. ”Sr. 77”; It was short, but it will last forever. R. M. A. LAMKIN, GAIL - Choose life - only that, and always, and at whatever risk. To let life leak out, to let it wear away by the mere passage of time, to withold giving it and spreading it, is to choose nothing. Sister Helen Kelley LANSFORD, RICKY - Most kids say ”1 can’t wait till I'm a senior, that will be my best year.” Well, they say that now, but believe me, when it's almost over you will wish you were still saying that. I have had some good times and some bad times here at PBHS and I hate to have to go. LEE, JIM - My years at PBHS will be remembered well, but I can’t say that I'll live in the past and look forward to the future. For those who contrib- uted to my years at PBHS, I wish them success and happiness in the years to come. LONG, DODY - What can you say when you finally realize those most memorable days of your teen- age life are over? . . . It wasn’t as bad as I thought or as bad as others had told me it would be. LOVETTE, GARY - My last year at PBHS has '“sen a pretty good year. It doesn't seem like I should be a senior. It only seems like yesterday that I started my freshman year. These past four years have gone 294 by quick and all I have to say is: I made it. LUNDRY, RICK - I have enjoyed being a part of PBHS these last four years. But, now it's my time to move on and let more students be a part. Now I am a senior; this is nothing to be proud of, because the big world is waiting for us. Most of our friends will be moving off, we might not ever see them again. I just want to wish everyone good luck in the future. LYNCH, MIKE - My memories of PBHS are of the good friends and the fun times we had together. I wouldn’t trade these memories for anything. As we all approach the next phase of our lives, the class of '77 is special. You will hear about us. Our accomplishments will be worth noticing. MADDOX, JANET - I will always remember Bluffer Staff because we all got along so well together. I'll never forget memories of All-District, Colum- bia, and Sambo’s. Thanks, Emerson, for teaching me how to eat pancakes, build pyramids and deco- rate SAE banquets. Miller Woman, thanks for teaching me how to behave properly in a McDonalds. Thanks, S. Arnac, for teaching me how to jump on beds and Teresa P. - Lady Will Power will keep in touch. MADDOX, TERRY - Thank God I made it! The only thing I can do now that I couldn't do four years ago is write my Last Comment of the Senior year C’est la vie! MARTING, HELEN - It's been heaven and ____________ all rolled into one! McCAIN, JOHN - It's been nice going to school here at PBHS. I’m gonna miss all of the people in which I came into contact with here. Upon getting ready to go into the world, I think the teachers have helped me to do that. I think the Class of '77 is the greatest! MEDLEY, DAVID - How could 12 long years pass in so short a time? Well, it has, and my Sr. year was really worth the wait. I don’t know what I’ll do, or where I'll go, but, I’ll never forget my years at PBHS. MIKEL, RANDY - The year will soon be over, but it will never be forgotten. MINTON, PAM - When you’re a senior, you feel great because you're at the top of the class. But, I know I couldn’t have made it without the Lord leading me and guiding me. MOE, RICKY - I like all PBHS stands for, I back it up all the way. But, I'm ready to leave and do the best I can. The graduating class of '77 is the future of America; I think we can be assured of a better tomorrow. MONTGOMERY, WILLIAM - This senior year has been my best year because I had it made. I only had 3 classes and I didn't have any books to take home. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO HOMEWORK!! This year I have never met so many goodlooking girls in my life. That is my last comment about my senior year. MOORE, DENNIS - It's been so much fun, what else can you say? I am going to miss everyone, every- thing and even the school. Just be careful and maybe some how we will all meet at the INN! MOORE, KELLY - The last four years have been great. I wish I could have stayed another four years but life does go on! Sr. 77 will never be forgotten! Show me the way to go home. Da - Friends. MOORE, MARIAN - It's like reading a best seller and trying to pick out your favorite chapter. Each experience is part of an interesting story of Da Friends. I remember became a part of our vocabulary and Da - Friends became a part of my life. Membership qualifications: plenty of love and lots of laughter! Well, since it’s history I'll start by saying I remember: DH and I: our night of years; CH and her confidence; KC and her TV sickness; KK and her Maalox; DJ and her automo- bile insurance; TH and her ever changing hair; JR and her love of camping; TF and her strength dur- ing Powder Puff; CT and her experience with bal- lerina shoes and a cool pop; and LR: Thanks for just being my friend; Oh yeah, did you think I had for- gotten you, SWEETIE! Wrong again, Buzzard Breath. Show me the way to go home, Da - Friends. MOORE, SONJA - Some of the best years have passed and the best one, my senior year is about to end. I don’t regret it because some of the best are yet to come. Congratulations, class of '77. It’s been fun! MORRIS, RICHIE - The climax of a four year strug- gle is coming to an end. Due to COE this year is tolerable. All in all, it was worth the four year struggle. Good luck to all of the future unfortunate seniors of PBHS. MURPHY, ROGER - I will always cherish the fond memories of PBHS and the friends and instructors who helped make it all worth while. Thank God it’s over!!! MURRAY, DI ANN - Since my first year of school I have been waiting to get out. Now I look back at all the wonderful memories of my school years and wonder Where have they gone? MYBRE, DOUG - It took a long time to get this far. 295 but we made it. NELSON, DARRELL - I would like to say thanks to the wonderful people who helped me through all my school years. Sr. '77 - the year to remember. NOON, PATRICK - Ms. Simon’s speech class made my senior year all worth it. Definitely good-look- ing, Ms. Simons, you should get the teacher of the year award! OWENS, BARBARA - Your future lies before you. Like a shining path of snow, Be careful how you tread, For every step will show. PARSONS, DONNA - Today is the beginning of the rest of my life, Because I took it one day at a time. PATTERSON, RON - I am proud to have been a part of the graduating class of 1977. Thank you stu- dents, faculty, and administration, for all the memories. PAYNE, JOHN - We, the seniors, in order to form a more perfect future, establish ourselves into the ranks of society, provide for our own livelihoods, promote to stay off of welfare, and secure the blessings of social security for ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this graduation for the Senior Class of PBHS. PAYNE, RANDY - I would really like to thank my mother and father for getting me out of bed, get- ting me dressed and off to school that first day in '65 so that I could fall off the slide while waiting for school to start. PERRYMAN, PATRICIA - My senior year has really been terrific, even with the ups and downs. I wish everybody lots of luck in their future years, espe- cially to that Queen Bee and Short Pockets. The Cookie Monster tells all that the Seniors of '77 rule all. PRICE, TERESA - I thought my Senior year would never get here but it did, and now it's almost over. I have many wonderful memories to look back on. May all future classes have as much fun as the Class of 77. QUAY, MARK - Si opinari iste loqui lingua Latina esse falsus. Autem, factum loqui lingua Anglicus. RAINS, GLORIA - I’ve really enjoyed my years in high school, and I wouldn’t trade them for any- thing. My junior year and senior year, especially, have been the most memorable. It seems like it’s all gone so fast ... I sometimes wish I could start over again. I only hope that future seniors will realize how short the years will seem so that they will make the most of it while they can. RATTLE, REX - Well, the end is almost here. I’m not really looking forward to it, because I'll miss all the friendly smiles and the school spirit from PBHS. But, I’d like to thank all the school faculty for all the help that I have received throughout my four years. I especially liked Psychology class with Mr. Ladd and his dad-gum-it’s. ' And Mr. Vance's strive for perfection. It’s been wonderfull and I’ve really enjoyed these four years. RECTOR, JANICE - If I had all the money in the world, this would be what I'd give Da Friends: To KC - a gas credit card; TF - an oxygen mask; TH - all the dancing lessons she'd want with the partner of her choice; CH - a pair of hide-a-stilts and a can of self confidence; DH - a course on how to drive safely under the influence of anger. DJ - a paid vacation for a one month stay in the hospital of her choice; KK - a life time supply of Maalox; MM - a non-detachable purse; LR - all the gym- nastic lessons she wanted under Olga Korbit, plus the newest styles of cheerleading uniforms; and CT - perfume to turn some of the guys off. Four years is worth a graduation night. Show me the way to go home - Da Friends. REED, PATRICIA - Memories of my past reflects the light of my future, and a great deal of these mem- ories will come from PBHS. REXROAD, DOYLE - Rock n” Roll All Nite and Party Every Day ... It was GREAT? P. K. - I love you! RICE, CAROLYN - I'll always have many happy memories of PBHS. ROBERSON, FRED - After 13 years of schooling I can say it was and it wasn't worth it . . . which ever way you want to look at it. ROBERTS, PAUL - It's amazing how fast the four years of high school fly by and when you look back and try to pick out specific things, it's all just a blur. One thing that isn't lost in the flood are your friends. I only hope that I can be as close to my friends ten years from now as I am at the moment. Really, that’s what makes high school - other peo- ple and the resulting memories. ROBERTSON, LEE - When you see your picture on a page of the ’senior’ section, you think that it's all a dream. But then you look around your picture and see the kids that have been in your classes all the way through high school, slowly you realize that you are a senior and that next year you will be an alumni of PBHS. The four years are not a waste as you look back on the memories, they are unre- placeable. Our senior class was special. When the going got rough we worked together. (Remember: 296 Jr. Prom? We'll never get done in time! We did get done! The entrance was the best!) (Right, Irene?) Da Friends - Nothing can take away the memories, not even college. I love you all. Wea- dle Jean. Show me the way to go home - Da Friends. B. J. - Thanks for the loyalty you have shown to PBHS and the varsity cheerleaders. RUDD, KEVIN - It’s impossible to believe that four years of high school are already behind me. I couldn't list the good times I’ve had in those four years. So, as a graduating senior, I look back over those years and recall the one statement that could possibly put my feelings into words: Han' me ’nother one-a them broos back 'ere. SEIB, DEBBIE - It doesn’t seem like I should be a senior. It seems like someone else should be ahead of us. P.O.I. SEIFERT, KAREN - I will always look fondly back on my high school days at PBHS. Doing crazy things with Max, Zelda, Dick, Haraho, and Patti-poo will stay imprinted on my mind. Even though we will drift apart with time, we will always have one thing in common: we will have been a part of the great class of '77. SHULL, JIM - What I’ll miss most of all is Mrs. Smith’s second hour English class. SILK WOOD, BLAKE - You only go ’round once in life - but ya don’t HAVE to drink Schlitz! SMITH, BARBARA - Lord grant us the courage to change what can be changed, the serenity to endure what we cannot, and the wisdom to know the difference. Niebur SNEED, DOYLE - I have just completed four years of the most significant learning experience I have ever had. One goal a handicapped person tries to achieve is acceptance. In the past four years, I believe I have reached that goal here at PBHS. I just want to say thanks for making my Impossible Dream come true. Class of ’77: Thanks! SPAIN, SALLY - Many long hard years of do’s and Don’t’s, rough and reacy for the unknown future which lies ahead. Good luck, Class of '77! SPARKS, DANIEL - It took twelve years for this. It's been a long time, I hope it was worth the trouble. STAED, KATIE - POO - I wonder whatever happened to Rick, Bob, and Richard? LARABELLE - Remem- ber creamhorns, card games, cha cha chachacha, and Hey man! K. RAE - Hey Dicken's woman! HARA HO - Remember wienies and buns and Explorers. DICK - Remember the Martian anat- omy? MISTER - What can I say? Cheryl, Connie, Robin - Remember me, Inflatie Katie. STEWART, RAY - I, Ray Stewart, being of sound mind and body, do hereby declare in my last com- ment and statement of my senior year: no com- ment. SUTTON, LAURA - I finally made it. TACKETT, PATRICIA - This year was strange because always before there was someone to look up to. This year we were on top waiting for every- one to look up to us. The only difference between a sophomore and a senior is that seniors realize that being on top is no different from being in the middle. TAYLOR, CAMILLE - Being a student at PBHS has brought much sunshine and good times to my life. Those good times are now fading into dim memo- ries. It only took a moment to realize the end, of a life, as a student at PBHS. Live and remember! One more time for all the good times: Show me the way to go home, Da - Friends. TERRELL, ROSE - My senior year has been the best of all. I've learned more than I have in the other three years put together. I think I’m really going to miss school, especially my Senior year! TILMAN, SARA - Definition of High School - you begin as a freshman, thinking you know EVERY- THING, and you end as a senior positive that you can’t REALLY be sure about ANYTHING. Anyway, I had fun with Max, Karen the Chine, Dick, Zelda, and Pooty. Oh, yeah, Mr. Bubble, too! TOELLNER, BIL - All great men are dead, and I'm not feeling well. TOOLE, PATTY - Life is but a span, to link before and after. And wise the man who builds his span of life with love and laughter. TOWNS, MONA KAY - I like Poplar Bluff. I miss California and the people there and the school, I still like it here. Well, the way and the twelfth and the light is in Jesus Christ is in my life, I hope He is in your life, too. May God bless you all for- ever and ever. WARD, MICHAEL - I think that the senior class of 1977 is the best and probably always will be. Looking over the years, I can say that they were fun. All the excitement of the athletic events and the other activities . . . the cross country team will be the best in the state. Good luck to all the seniors and to all the classes to come. WARREN, PaTTI - My friends have meant a lot to me in high school; there's Karen with the chinky eyes, Katie gave me knowledge of a whole new language, Laura taught me the lost art of playing cowbells, Sara showed me how to be sexy at a 297 choir performance, and with Teri I learned the true anatomy of a martian. WELSH, PATRA - I'm glad its over, although I know I’ll look back on all the good memories. WHITWORTH, STEVE - PBHS has given me a really great past, but it has also given me a much brighter future because it gave me someone I will love forever. WILCUT, DAVID - There are a lot of things I would like to say about my senior year, but words just won’t express them. I do want to thank everyone who made this senior year possible especially my teachers, friends and my wonderful mother. WILES, CINDY - It’s been fun, but I'm glad it's over. Congratulations to our Senior class of 1977, the best! P.O.I. WILSON, BILL - This has been probably the four most important years of my life, and from here on out I’ll have to take what I've learned to succeed in life. So, I would like to thank everyone who helped me down the road to get me as far as I am, which may not be far, but it’s as far as I got. WOODSMALL, CARLA - The time has come for the Sr. of '77 to leave. I will miss PBHS, and will never forget it; but, there comes a time for every high school student to go on to something bigger and better. It’s scary, but Sr's keep your chins up and make the class of '77 a proud one! WOODSON, FRANK - High school has been great. I had some good times and some bad times, but most of all I learned how to say y'all Missouri style and I proved a Spud could make it at PBHS. I had fun. I only wish I could do it all over again. WOOTEN, TOMMY - Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, get out of that bed, boy! MOMENTARILY MISPLACED COMMENTS: CHRISTIAN, KELLY - I've gone through the past few years dreading to come to school, but now that it’s over I realize it was a mistake. I think the hardest thing to accept is that the Seniors of our class will be going their own way trying to make their dreams come true. I hope in 10 years every last one of us is able to return for our class reunion. ENGLEHARDT, JUDY - High school's really been a blast. I've had a lot of fun and had some good teachers and a few far out classes. I’ve got to admit that my senior year was my best by far. I met a lot of really great people. I guess it was because we goofed off more as a senior than any other year. PBHS will always be remembered by the KLID KID. EUBANKS, NORMAN (ALIAS ”NERD”) Remember the good times and not the bad. For all of the good times: Kawalski gentlemen. (Orange sherbert and chocolate chip ice cream) McCNEW, MONA - I can't believe I finally made it and I'm glad it’s over with. COMMENTS TURNED IN WITHOUT A NAME: WHOEVER - Our senior year is the time we’ve looked forward to since childhood. When we reach it we are young adults with one goal achieved and many more to be reached. 298 WHOEVER 2 - I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen, of meadow-flowers and butterflies in summers that have been; Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were, with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair. I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see. For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood in every spring there is a different green. I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago, and people who will see a world that I shall never know. Bilbo Thank you Carolyn P. for unrepayable encourage- ment. The Road Good-Bye The road I took was named Good-Bye The path looked strange, I wondered why It left familiar things behind, A hand caught mine ... I paid no mind The stranger never once did say, Just what had brought him on my way On we went, and some afraid I wish I hadn’t come, but stayed All the friends that I once knew Took a road named Good-Bye too. There were no two roads just the same Having walked down Good-Bye Lane The road went on; we went too. And I was sad, for then I knew That never could I be the same Having walked down Good-Bye Lane And though I couldn't understand We walked together hand in hand We said no words, but just walked on, I thought of things now past and gone I thought of games I'd lost and won I thought of all the things I'd done I thought of those I’d loved and cared Of times we’d had, of things we’d shared I thought of those I'd come to know Just knowing them - they'd helped me so I thought of things, of tears I’d shed Those same things now brought smiles instead. The tasks I'd done, those left to do, I wondered how I'd make it through When something inside seems to say, ’’The best you can from day to day. The way was rough, I knew the score, It never ends . . . there’s always more But now I know that all in all Each thing in its own place will fall. I thought of all the happy days, The sad ones now just seem a haze. And in a flash I came to see How much the past had meant to me. We walked along - I wondered where The future led and what was there The past still echoed from behind I was its and it was mine. But in my heart was still a fear And in my eye a shining tear; Yet on my face there was a smile As we walked forward all the while. I walked along the Road Good-Bye I looked back ... I heaved a sigh. Then I remembered at my side - My silent, but my constant guide. The strangers hand I felt in mine, I looked into his face this time. I asked his name - he turned just so, He smiled and said, I’m called Hello. Forever; ahvays . . . Class of c futocj zafifii 302 c futocj xajifi 303 c futocj xajzb
